President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the former President of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Stjepan Mesic, who arrived in Turkmenistan at the head of the delegation representing the largest companies of Croatia.
Thanking for the opportunity of a personal meeting, the guest conveyed cordial greetings of the leadership of his country, particularly, President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Turkmen people. Expressing his admiration for the rapid development of Turkmenistan and especially its capital Ashgabat, Stjepan Mesic said that the European business community, including Croatia, attached great importance to building up fruitful partnership with the Turkmen state that was steadily moving towards the progress and prosperity.

Stjepan Mesic highly evaluated the fact that actively attracting foreign businesses, the Turkmen state created the conditions conducive to fruitful joint work by pursuing the well thought-out investment policy, which provides for significant financial, tax and customs benefits and bringing the national legislation in compliance with the universally recognized standards of international law.
During the meeting the guest said that the Croatian delegation focused its attention on the prospects for cooperation in the transport sector, in particular modernization of the marine, the oil and gas, energy, medical and water industries. Also, emphasis was placed on the prospects for promoting business partnership with Turkmen businesses that had accumulated the considerable experience and production potential.
Thanking for granting confidence to Croatian partners, Stjepan Mesic confirmed that they were keenly interested in strengthening their positions in the promising Turkmen market and participating in the ongoing ambitious projects in the country.
