President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a videoconference meeting with the Vice Premiers, heads of ministries and departments, and the khyakims of the regions and Ashgabat.
The meeting agenda focused on the priority issues of the social and economic development of the regions, the preparations for the cotton sowing campaign, the national planting campaign and the festive events to be widely celebrated in the country in March as well as for the Week of Culture in Dashoguz Velayat in summer. Particular attention was paid to the improvement of the system of education and the existing situation in specific industries as well as the other aspects of life of the state and society.
The reports on the progress in implementing the National programme on improvement of settlements and fulfillment of the Turkmen leader's instructions "On privatization of lands for farming and building apartment houses" were presented during the meeting.
The Turkmen leader was informed on the progress of works on the further improvement of the main city of the country, including the reconstruction of highways and construction of new roads as well as creation of green belts, establishment of the modern aesthetic environment in Ashgabat given the ecological aspects.
It was also reported on the measures taken to strengthen the production and export potential of the industrial sector of the national economy, improve and increase the efficiency of the exchange activities, as well as the existing situation in the trade complex.
The draft designs of apartment houses to be built in the city of Balkanabat and new park with the area of 700 hectares in Ashgabat were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.
Considering the projects, the President provided a number of specific comments and recommendations.
The President of Turkmenistan instructed the relevant officials to consider the opportunities of widening the agricultural areas for growing vegetables and gourds in Mary Velayat.
The Turkmen leader was informed on the work done in the horse-breeding industry and preparations for the Turkmen Horse Day.
It was also reported on the progress in developing the international relations and establishing partner contacts with the world leading horse-breeding centres. Thus, Turkmen jockeys and horse breeders will visit the UK on March 8 - April 8 and the Kingdom of Bahrain on March 12 - April 12 to study, exchange experience and increase qualification.
Underlining the significance of developing the international industrial partnership, the Turkmen leader instructed the relevant officials to study the best international developments and innovative experience and ensure participation of Turkmen jockeys in international competitions.
Commenting on the reports on the progress in implementing the educational reform, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed dissatisfaction with the poor organization of work on improvement of the quality of teaching in schools and the institutions of higher education. In this regard, the Turkmen leader instructed the relevant officials to thoroughly analyze the existing situation in the educational institutions paying significant attention to the professional level of teachers as well as to accelerate the paces of work on opening schools to train specialists with secondary vocational education.
The President of Turkmenistan also demanded to study the issues on providing financial support to the Turkmen youth studying abroad.
