President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received UNHCR Regional Coordinator for Central Asia Saber Azam who is completing his mission and had arrived in the Turkmen capital on the final working visit.
Expressing satisfaction with the high level of confidence established within the years of the fruitful partnership, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his guest expressed strong belief that the close dialogue based on the mutual interests for Turkmenistan and the UNHCR as well as the key aspects of the foreign-policy strategy of the country and its initiative approach towards the solution of the most important issues of the modern time would continue successfully in the future.
Exchanging the views on the prospects for development of the traditional cooperation, particular attention was paid to the measures taken to ensure the security and stability in the region, in particular, the mutual assistance in establishing the peaceful life and economic revival in Afghanistan as well as the work with refugees and stateless persons and creation of all necessary conditions for the life. In this regard, the parties underlined the significance of the Ashgabat Declaration adopted on the outcomes of the International conference "Refugees in the Muslim World" taken place in May, 2012 on the initiative of Turkmenistan.
Given the importance of study of the international experience in the sphere of the civil law, the parties underlined the significance of the joint work on implementation of the projects aimed at the practical implementation of the UN fundamental conventions and other multilateral documents regarding the refugees into the national legislation system of Turkmenistan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and UNHCR Regional Coordinator for Central Asia Saber Azam exchanged best wishes and expressed belief in the further successful development of the fruitful cooperation.
