President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the construction sites in the city centre to see the progress of construction work and considered a number of construction projects to be implemented in Ashgabat and its suburbs.
The Turkmen leader arrived at the Government building located in the centre of Ashgabat. Its construction is entering into the final phase. Vice Premier, Executive Secretary of the Office of the President of Turkmenistan and the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Sh. Durdylyev reported on the progress in implementing the urban development programme and the large-scale construction projects in Ashgabat.
Commenting on the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave the Vice Premier specific instructions to further modernize urban infrastructure.
Focusing on the importance of creating the single architectural ensemble in the centre of Ashgabat, the President gave specific instructions in this regard. The Turkmen leader noted that the design of building facades, street lamps, trees and flowers, which would be planted in park lands and public gardens, should harmonize with one another and accentuate the specificity of this part of our white-marble capital.
Noting that the ongoing work on modernization of road infrastructure may restrict traffic flow on some roads in the city, the Turkmen leader instructed Vice Premier Sh. Durdylyev and Ashgabat Khyakim R. Nurmammedov jointly with officers of the State Motor Licencing and Inspection Service to promptly inform citizens of repair works. The President instructed to provide information on a regular basis, noting that it was especially important that children could come in time to kindergartens, schoolchildren – to schools, students – to educational institutions and adults – to work.
The Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ordered that big monitors like that installed near the Government building be installed throughout Ashgabat in preparation for the V Asian Indoors and Martial Arts Games. The Turkmen leader noted that Ashgabat citizens and guests could watch sporting events of the 2017 Asian Games on these monitors.

Upon thoroughly considering the projects, the Turkmen leader provided some recommendations on their implementation. The President also noted that the high quality of construction work and adherence to construction schedule should remain the major requirements to all construction projects to be implemented in the capital and the regions.
Summing up the meeting, the Turkmen leader emphasized once again that all the issues related to the development of Ashgabat must be addressed on a long-term basis widely applying best international practices and innovative urban technology to create the most favorable urban environment.
