President of Turkmenistan visits construction sites in Ashgabat

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamed0ov visited the construction sites in Ashgabat to see the progress in implementing the ambitious urban development programme, in particular the construction projects.

The Turkmen leader arrived at the helipad in the morning. From on board the President could see the progress of construction of social and cultural facilities and military barracks. The Minister of Defence reported to the Turkmen leader on the progress of construction works.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the functionality of the building under construction did not meet the requirements. The Turkmen leader emphasized that when conducting construction works, close attention should be paid to the interior and exterior design of buildings and facilities. In this regard, the Turkmen leader also noted that quality modern building materials meeting the highest environmental and aesthetical standards must be used on all the construction sites in the capital. Noting that new facilities and buildings must be supplied with state-of-the-art equipment, the President gave specific instructions to the Minister of Defence.


Vice Premier, Executive Secretary of the Office of the President of Turkmenistan and the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Sh. Durdylyev presented the report.

Commenting on the report, the President instructed to ensure that the quality of construction works and adherence to construction schedule were kept under strict control. Giving specific instructions, the Turkmen leader noted that modern building materials should be used on the construction sites throughout the country. Ashgabat Khyakim R. Nurmammedov presented a number of projects to the Turkmen leader for consideration. These included the general development plan of Ashgabat, the layouts of apartment houses and social facilities to be built in the Parahat-7 residential area, the general layout of a park, the project of the administrative building of the Rysgal Joint Stock Commercial Bank and a shopping centre, the draft designs of lampposts on the bridges to be built at the intersections of A. Niyazov Avenue and Gerogly Street, Gurbansoltan Eje Avenue and A. Niyazov Avenue, a road to be built from the city centre to the airport and a park to be laid out between the Alem cultural and entertainment centre and the monument to the Constitution.

Reporting on the general development plan of the Turkmen capital, the Ashgabat Khyakim informed the Turkmen leader of the development plans of the Parahat-7 residential area. Necessary preparatory work is currently underway in the residential area.

After reviewing the projects, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov provided some recommendations and made adjustments in the projects. The Turkmen leader approved in whole the projects of apartment houses to be built in the Parahat-7 residential area and instructed to take a comprehensive and well thought-out approach to addressing emerging issues.

Addressing the Ashgabat Khyakim, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of construction works in the capital and demanded that the quality of construction works and adherence to construction schedule should be kept under strict control.

Then the President of Turkmenistan went on board a helicopter to see the progress in implementing the ambitious urban development programme in Ashgabat.

The Turkmen leader flew over a number of large construction sites in Ashgabat, where social, administrative and other facilities were under construction to see the progress of construction works as well as the measures taken to develop road infrastructure in the main city of the country.

On board the Turkmen leader considered the development plan of the south-eastern part of the capital, the projects of facilities to be built in the Parahat-7 residential area and the layouts of new buildings and facilities. Dwelling upon the projects of apartment houses and methods of construction, the Turkmen leader provided some recommendations and determined the location of facilities to be built in the residential area. The Turkmen leader instructed to complete the construction of apartment houses for 4,700 families in Parahat-7 in a timely manner and ensure the quality of construction works.

From on board the Turkmen leader could see the city streets after reconstruction. The President focused on the need to continue to modernize streets and build new roads in Ashgabat.

During the flight the Turkmen leader could see the progress in construction works in the southern part of the city and the parkland being laid out between the monument to the Constitution and the Alem cultural and entertainment centre. Focusing on the need to increase the pace of construction works, the President gave specific instructions to the Vice Premier.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov could see the progress in implementing the 12th construction stage projects in Ashgabat. The Turkmen leader noted that new buildings and facilities blend well with the architectural ensemble being created in the centre of the city.

In conclusion, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that construction works being conducted in the Ashgabat must be efficient and comprehensive and gave instructions to accelerat.
