President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov arrived in Turkmenistan on an official visit. The one-to-one talks took place in the Ruhyet Palace in the afternoon.
Then the government delegations of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan joined in the talks which took place in the Small Hall.The ceremony of signing bilateral documents took place after the talks.
Among the documents signed during the ceremony are the Agreement on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan, Agreement on cooperation between the city of Balkanabat (Turkmenistan) and the city of Almetyevsk (the Republic of Tatarstan).
After concluding the signing ceremony, the leaders of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan held a press conference on the outcomes of the Ashgabat talks.
Summing up the talks, the Turkmen leader expressed sincere gratitude to the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan and the members of the delegation for the constructive and efficient work. The President of Turkmenistan noted that the meeting reaffirmed the mutual aspiration of the both parties for the further enhancement of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan. That is vividly proved by a number of important documents signed during the meeting. In this context, the President underlined that the relations with the Republic of Tatarstan was an important part of the diversified strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation. According to the Turkmen leader the talks in Ashgabat focused on the progress of the trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan and its further directions. The parties agreed to continue and enhance the close partnership in the spheres of industry, agriculture, mechanic engineering, energetics, aircraft engineering and other areas.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed the interest of our country in building mutually beneficial partnership with the Republic of Tatarstan in such areas as shipbuilding and motor-building.
The President also noted that within the framework of cooperation with Tatarstan, Turkmenistan paid particular attention to development of the sphere of high technologies and knowledge-intensive industries. That is a very promising area of cooperation given the existing potential of the Republic of Tatarstan as well as the demands of the Turkmen economy.
The Turkmen leader also focused on the humanitarian sphere as an important element of the Turkmen-Tatar relations and noted that today more than 900 students from Turkmenistan studied in the best higher educational institutions in the Republic of Tatarstan. The Turkmen leader emphasized that cooperation in this sphere would be continued and enhanced. Moreover, the parties are planning to develop scientific cooperation and cultural dialogue. Speaking about the sphere of sport, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan was interested in studying the best world practice, including Tatarstan's experience in hosting the 2013 World Summer Universiade in Kazan.

In this regard, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov expressed the willingness of Tatarstan to share its experience in the petrochemical industry with Turkmen partners. Specifying the sphere of education as a priority area of the bilateral cooperation, the distinguished guest emphasized that students from Tatarstan should also study in Ashgabat. Moreover, the leader of the Republic of Tatarstan specified other prospects for cooperation given the world scientific and technological progress, development of new research areas such as nanotechnologies, IT-technologies, etc.
