President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Turkey Abdullah Gul, who was in Ashgabat on a working visit to participate in the Turkmen Horse Day celebrations, had a meeting at the International Equestrian Sport Centre.
An exchange of views on the current state and prospects of Turkmen-Turkish cooperation took place during the meeting. The sides agreed that favourable conditions and opportunities existed today to intensify it. The two leaders discussed the progress in implementing top-level agreements and new opportunities which open up to diversify partnership. The trade and economic, transport and communications, energy, industrial, construction and other sectors were mentioned as priority areas for cooperation.
Emphasizing the importance of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, the leaders of Turkmenistan and Turkey called for the further enhancement of educational and scientific contacts and a cultural dialogue between the two countries, whose peoples are bound by historical affinities and spiritual kinship.
