President of Turkmenistan conducts a working meeting

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a working meeting with cabinet ministers and Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. The meeting agenda focused on the preparations for the state visit of the President of the Republic of Croatia and the delegation of the country to Turkmenistan.

It was noted that the meeting of the leaders of Turkmenistan and Croatia in New York in september, 2007 held within the framework of the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly initiated an active cooperation between the two states. The top level dialogue continued during the meeting of the President of Turkmenistan and the President of Croatia in Bucharest in April, 2008 during the NATO summit. The important events in the history of the intergovernmental relations were the official visits of the President of the Republic of Croatia to Turkmenistan in July, 2008 and the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Croatia in June, 2009.

Within the framework of the meeting, it was reported on the preparations for the Turkmen-Croatian business forum, which is timed to the state visit of the President of Croatia to Turkmenistan. It was noted that over 30 companies specializing in various sectors of economy as well as state structures would participate in the business meting.

The Turkmen leader was informed on the outcomes of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Croatian commission on economic cooperation taken place during the visit of the Turkmen delegation to the Republic of Croatia on March 30 - April 2 as well as the progress of work on development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Croatia in the sphere of culture and the work of the National Parliament with the aim to enhance the interparliamentary relations with the Republic of Croatia.

Commenting on the reports, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the relevant officials to take all necessary measures to hold the Turkmen-Croatian business forum at the high organizational level. The Turkmen leader focused on the huge prospects of cooperation in the transport and communication sphere.

The President also underlined the existing potential for widening cooperation with the Republic of Croatia in the trade and economic sphere and emphasized on the significance of establishing efficient relations with the relevant structures of this country to enhance the bilaterla cooperation.

The Turkmen leader demanded to study the opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fuel and energy complex, agriculture, science and education, healthcare, sport and tourism.

Underlining the importance of widening bilateral relations at the parliamentary level, the Turkmen leader noted that it would serve as an important factor for strengthening mutual understanding between the countries and peoples.

Expressing satisfaction with the character of the intergovernmental relations built on the principals of equality, mutual respect and constructiveness, the Turkmen leader said that the forthcoming Turkmen-Croatian top level talks would promote enhancing and widening traditional cooperation and implementation of its substantive potential.
