The two-day official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Tajikistan taken on the invitation of President Emomalii Rahmon starts on May 5.
Today, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan demonstrate their commitment to enrich the experience of fruitful cooperation strengthening it with large-scale joint projects implemented in the interests of the whole region. Among the most important of them is the project on construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railroad launched in June, 2013. The new main steel line will promote developing the regional transport network and contribute to enhancing the trade and economic relations on the Eurasian continent.
Implementation of this significant project can be considered as another evidence of the common ideas of our companies regarding the vectors for developing the Central Asian region and mutual aspiration for building the most efficient model of the intergovernmental dialogue.
In this regard it should be noted that the closeness of Turkmenistan's and Tajikistan's positions about the regional and international policy stipulated their effective cooperation at the international arena within the framework of large international organizations and authoritative regional structures.
The sustainable tendency for increasing the volumes of the foreign trade turnover and steady enhancing the trade and economic relations serves as the best indicator of dynamics of development of the Turkmen-Tajik cooperation. The Joint Turkmen-Tajik intergovernmental commission on trade and economic, scientific and technological cooperation, which was established in 2007 on initiative of the President of Turkmenistan and which held its fifth meeting in Ashgabat last month, plays an important role in developing business relations.
The two countries also successfully develop relations in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
Constructiveness and effectiveness of the Turkmen-Tajik intergovernmental dialogue is stipulated to a great extent by the huge concern of the leaders of the two friendly states, whose regular mutual visits have very efficient character.
Within the framework of the top level talks in Dushanbe, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Emomalii Rahmon will discuss the prospects and key areas of the Turkmen-Tajik cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral level given then priorities of the social and economic development of the two states for the near future.
