The leaders of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan discussed a wide spectrum of issues of the bilateral cooperation, in particular implementation of the agreements achieved earlier and specified the priority spheres of partnership given its multilateral potential. In this regard, transport and power industries were specified among the priority spheres of cooperation. The bright example of the mutually beneficial partnership in these areas is implementation of the joint project on construction of the Turkmenistan - Afghanistan - Tajikistan railroad as well as large-scale project on construction of the Turkmenistan - China gas pipeline. It is obvious that both of these projects are of particular significance for the two countries and the region as well.
Particular attention within the framework of cooperation between the two our states is paid to the sphere of environment, in particular saving the Aral Sea.
In the framework of the talks, the leaders of the two states exchanged their views on the situation in Afghanistan. In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan and the President of Tajikistan reaffirmed the commitment to solving the problems in Afghanistan through peaceful, political and diplomatic means.
During the meeting President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Emomalii Rahmon reaffirmed the mutual aspiration of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan for enhancing efficient relations in such spheres as economy and trade. It was underlined the significance role of the joint Intergovernmental Turkmen-Tajik Commission on Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation.
Speaking about collaboration in the humanitarian sphere, the leaders of the two states emphasized its efficient character and underlined the importance of the further development of the bilateral contacts in the spheres of science, education, culture and art.
The leaders of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan also exchanged their views on a number of important issues of the regional and international policy.
Expressing satisfaction with the high level of the bilateral relations, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Emomalii Rahmon reaffirmed the adherence of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan for constructive intergovernmental dialogue that develops in the spirit of the strategic partnership.
The Turkmen leader invited the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan at any convenient time. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. The dates of the visit will be adjusted through diplomatic channels.
Then the talks continued with the participation of the government delegations of the two countries. The ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held after the government delegations had concluded the talks.
