President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov completed the official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov completed the official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. As was reported, the Turkmen-Tajik top level talks held in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe were a success. The talks confirmed the willingness of the two friendly countries to promote and build full cooperation on a mutually beneficial long-term basis in the bilateral format and within the international organisations.

In the morning, the Turkmen leader visited the National Library of the Republic of Tajikistan located in the historic centre of the Tajik capital. Director of the National Library, Doctor of Philology Nosirdion Halimov cordially greeted President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the main entrance to the library. Tajik girls dressed in national costumes presented bright flowers to the Turkmen leader.

On the way to the main book depository of Tajikistan its director told the distinguished guest – the President of Turkmenistan about the new building that the library moved to two years. The facade of the magnificent nine-storey building resembles an open book.

The building, which occupies an area of nearly 45,000 square metres, houses 25 reading halls for 1,500 visitors, 3 exhibition halls, a lot of depositories for books and documents and 10 conference halls for large-scale forums. The conditions conducive to storage of 10 million books are created in the building; today, the library holdings include more than 6 million printed materials and 4 million electronic products. The National Library has the collection of 16,000 manuscripts, including the ancient Koran dating to the 14th century. State-of-the-art equipment allows visitors to read books in electronic format, exchange information and use the holdings of e-libraries all over the world. The National Library that has a printing shop where ancient books are restored is a major research and cultural centre of the country.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov got acquainted with the unique collections of the National Library of Tajikistan and visited the halls where numerous scientific, encyclopaedic, artistic and socio-political publications, which tell about the outstanding representatives of the Tajik people and the modern history of the friendly country, were displayed. These also include the materials about the history of Turkmen-Tajik relations.

Cordially bidding farewell to the director and specialists of the National Library of Tajikistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov headed for the Nowruz Palace – a landmark of the Tajik capital, which will be one of the visit cards of modern Dushanbe in the near future.

The car of the President of Turkmenistan stopped on the square in front of the Palace. President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon cordially greeted the Turkmen leader at the entrance.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon visited a big conference hall located on the ground floor of the Palace building. The leader of Tajikistan told his distinguished guest – President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov about the design of the magnificent hall, which reflects the national architectural traditions.

Then the leaders of the two friendly nations visited the hall designed for international conferences and meetings and a number of premises on the first floor of the Nowruz Palace.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highly evaluated the skills and creativity of specialists engaged in construction of the Nowruz Palace, who maintain the architectural traditions of the Tajik people in a worthy manner.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon visited Varzob Gorge located 40 kilometres north from the Tajik capital, where they walked amongst picturesque landscapes.

Then the President of Turkmenistan cordially bade farewell to his counterpart –President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and thanked him for the warm welcome. Then the Turkmen leader headed for Dushanbe International Airport from where President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left for Ashgabat.
