The opening ceremonies of Bagtyyarlyk gas processing plant in Hojambaz Etrap and the gas turbine power plant with the annual capacity of 149.2 MW in Serdarabat Etrap took place in Lebap Velayat with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The President’s helicopter landed on the territory of Bagtyyarlyk gas processing plant. The Turkmen leader headed for the ceremony venue.
The Turkmen leader entered the building where the ceremony participants and guests, including the cabinet ministers, deputies of Mejlis, high-ranking officials of ministries and departments, heads of diplomatic representations and missions accredited in Turkmenistan and foreign companies, media representatives from Turkmenistan and foreign countries, had gathered together.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Turkmen leader emphasized that the gas processing plant designed to produce 8.67 billion cubic metres of marketable gas per year includes four processing lines, a gas gathering station, a condensate unit and other facilities. Natural gas will be supplied to the gas processing plant from Altyn Asyr group of deposits.
Putting the new gas processing plant into operation will allow significantly increasing natural gas supplies from Bagtyyarlyk contractual territory to the People’s Republic of China. In this regard, the Turkmen leader said that the Governments of the two friendly countries had agreed to build the fourth branch of Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline (Branch D).
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, Head of the National Energy Administration of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Wu Xinxiong congratulated those present on the commissioning of the second gas processing plant in Bagtyyarlyk contractual territory and the forthcoming ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the gas processing plant with the capacity of 30 billion cubic metres per year on Galkynysh field.
Addressing the ceremony, Chief of the Central Asia Project Coordination Group of China National Petroleum Corporation, Director General of Trans Asia Pipeline (subsidiary of CNPC) Mr. Lu Gong Xun emphasized that the commissioning of the second gas processing plant in Bagtyyarlyk contractual territory marked a new stage in oil and gas cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen leader thanked the representatives of the People’s Republic of China for their work and emphasized Turkmenistan’s willingness to build up partnership. Residents of Mekan gengeshlik in Hojambaz Etrap, where China National Petroleum Corporation had implemented the US$ 4 million project of the water treatment plant with the capacity of 1,500 cubic metres a day, joined in the ceremony via the TV space bridge.
Then the President of Turkmenistan left the building of Bagtyyarlyk gas processing plant. Then the Turkmen leader drove the electric car on the territory of the newly built enterprise to see its facilities.
The culmination of the ceremony: President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov pressed the button to put Bagtyyarlyk gas processing plant into operation. After some time the red light on the flow chart was on, indicating that marketable gas from the gas processing plant had reached the trunk pipeline system.
Before leaving the building, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wrote an entry to the Book of Guests of Honour. Then the Turkmen leader left the ceremony venue. The helicopter took the President of Turkmenistan to the venue for the opening ceremony of the State power plant in Serdarabat Etrap in Lebap Velayat.
Workers and specialists of the new gas turbine power plant greeted the President of Turkmenistan at the main entrance to the building. The power plant with the annual capacity of 149.2 MW was built by the Turkish company Calyk Energy. In a solemn atmosphere President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov cut the ribbon and entered the spacious foyer of the Lebap State power plant.
Inside the building President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov could get acquainted with various technological operations to be performed at the gas turbine power plant. In a solemn atmosphere the Turkmen leader put the new power plant into operation. On the big monitors, the ceremony participants and guests could see the gas turbines of the power plant working.
The President wrote an entry to the Book of Guests of Honour in commemoration of the remarkable event. Then President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with Chairman of the Board of Governors of Calyk Holding Ahmet Chalyk and President of General Electric Energy for Western Europe and North Africa Ricardo Cordoba at the power plant building. The guests thanked the Turkmen leader for giving credence to their companies and assured that they would properly fulfil their obligations.
Then the Turkmen leader cordially bade farewell to the ceremony participants and guests and left the ceremony venue.
