Talks between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who had arrived in China on a state visit, and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping took place in the capital of the People’s Republic of China.
The leaders of Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China paid particular attention to the progress of implementation of the bilateral agreements achieved earlier, and specified the key priorities of the Turkmen-Chinese partnership for the short-term and long-term prospects. Within the framework of the talks, the leaders of the two states exchanged their views on a number of important issues of the regional and international policy that are of particular interest for both countries.
Then the talks continued with the participation of the government delegations of the two countries.
The ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held after the government delegations had concluded the talks.
To the applause of those present President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping affixed their signatures to the Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation Between Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China, the Joint Declaration on Development and Enhancement of the Strategic Partnership Relations between Turkmenistan and China, Communiqué on adoption of the Plan of development of the strategic partnership relations between Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China for 2014-2018.
Among the other important documents signed during the meeting with the aim to enhance the Turkmen-Chinese cooperation are the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on enhancing the stable cooperation in the sphere of natural gas; the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on the safe and stable operation of the Turkmenistan-China pipeline; the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on economic and technological cooperation; the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding between the Ministry of Economy and Development of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China on the basic principles of cooperation in the sphere of transport; the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding on cooperation in the agricultural industry between the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China; the Framework Agreement on further development of cooperation in the sphere of culture between the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China; the Agreement between Ahal Velayat Khyakimlik, Turkmenistan and the People's Government of Shaanxi Province, the People's Republic of China on trade and economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation; the Agreement between Lebap Velayat Khyakimlik, Turkmenistan and the People's Government of Shandong Province, the People's Republic of China on trade, economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation; the Agreement between Mary Khyakimlik and the municipality of the city of Xi'an on establishment of sister city relationships between the city of Mary, Turkmenistan and the city of Xi'an, China; the Agreement between Turkmenabat Khyakimliks and municipality of the city of Rizhao, China on establishment of sister city relationships between the city of Turkmenabat, Turkmenistan and the city of Rizhao, China; the Framework Agreement on Cooperation in the horse breeding industry between the Turkmenatlary State Association, Turkmenistan and the Horse Breeding Association of China; the Cooperation Agreement between the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Export-Import Bank of China , etc.
Commenting on the results of the top level meeting, the President of Turkmenistan highly appreciated the talks, which focused on the existing conditions and prospects for development of bilateral relations as well as the specific areas of further cooperation.
