The President of Turkmenistan to China completed a state visit to the People’s Republic of China.
In the morning, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov headed from his residence for the Great Hall of the People, where the ceremony of conferring the title of Honorary Professor of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine to the leader of Turkmenistan took place.
The representatives of the scientific elite and the public of China, the members of the Turkmen government delegation and numerous journalists greeted the Turkmen leader with the thunderous applause. Rector of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Mr. Xu Anlong said that the Academic Council of the University had adopted the decision to confer the title of Honorary Professor of the University to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in recognition of his efforts and outstanding contribution to the development of education, science, democracy and international cooperation.
Mr. Xu Anlong presented the diploma and the badge to the President of Turkmenistan to the applause of those present.
Congratulating the Turkmen leader on the remarkable event on behalf of the leadership of the People’s Republic of China and all those present, Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China Ms. Liu Yandong emphasized the huge contribution of the President of Turkmenistan to fostering and promoting the Turkmen-Chinese dialogue.
Addressing the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the leadership and specialists of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine for conferring the academic title of Honorary Professor. The Turkmen leader noted that Turkmen-Chinese cooperation in trade, economic, humanitarian and cultural fields was being brought to a new level today as evidenced by the bilateral talks held in Beijing a day before.
The Turkmen leader called for the promotion of close bilateral contacts, particularly between the State Medical University of Turkmenistan and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. Addressing the ceremony, the President of Turkmenistan noted that Turkmenistan and China had ample education and training opportunities.
The audience welcomed the speech of the President of Turkmenistan with the thunderous applause.
After the ceremony had concluded, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Mr. Zhang Dejiang at the Great Hall of the People.
Exchanging views on the possibilities to enhance cooperation, the sides focused on the energy sector as a strategic sphere of cooperation given the tremendous resource potential of Turkmenistan. The transport and communications, tourism and construction sectors open up ample opportunities for partnership. It was noted that the cultural and humanitarian sphere, in particular education and science, was essential for cooperation.
During the meeting, Mr. Zhang Dejiang briefed the distinguished guest on the history and traditions of parliamentarianism in China. The Turkmen leader briefed the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress on the activities of the national parliament – Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
In the afternoon, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Mr. Li Keqiang at the Great Hall of the People.
In a friendly and constructive atmosphere, the sides exchanged views on a number of key aspects of bilateral cooperation. The sides expressed belief that Turkmen-Chinese relations had a great future given their common interests and views on global development trends.
Then the President of Turkmenistan headed for Beijing Capital International Airport, from where he left for Hangzhou.
Walking to the plane, the President paternally addressed a group of Turkmen young people, who study at higher educational institutions in China, with words of encouragement. The young people had gathered at the airport to bid farewell to their national leader.
Secretary of the PRC Communist Party Zhejiang Provincial Committee Xia Baolong and other officials greeted the Turkmen leader at the airport in Hangzhou.

A colourful show presenting the ancient civilization of Hangzhou, the traditions and customs of this region was performed there. 300 actors as well as the latest engineering thought were involved in the show.
Thanking the organizers of the show for the fascinating performance, the President of Turkmenistan heartily bade farewell to Secretary of the PRC Communist Party Zhejiang Provincial Committee Xia Baolong and expressed gratitude for the hospitality and cordiality.

A concert of friendship with the participation of cultural and art workers from Turkmenistan was held in Taimiao Park in Beijing. A bright chord of the concert was ‘kushtdepdi’, the spectacular Turkmen folk dance, which involved all the participants and aroused a storm of applause the audience.
