President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Ms. Irina Bokova, who had arrived in Ashgabat to take part in the International scientific conference “Magtymguly Fraghi and the universal cultural values”.
The Director-General of UNESCO expressed deep gratitude to the Turkmen leader for the honorary state award - “Magtymguly Pyragy” medal awarded to her. Ms. Bokova emphasized that she considered this honour as a symbol of the high assessment of the UNESCO work and successful development of relations between the UNESCO and Turkmenistan.
Expressing the mutual aspiration for enhancing and widening versatile cooperation, the President of Turkmenistan and Director-General of UNESCO exchanged their views on the prospective areas of the partnership emphasizing, in particular, the spheres of science, education, culture as well as preservation of historical and cultural monuments.
