President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a regular meeting of the Organizing Committee of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will take place in the Turkmen capital in 2017. The heads of the ministries and departments responsible for the preparation for and the conduct of the 2017 Asian Games and the media representatives were invited to attend the meeting.

It was reported that much work was being done to provide the information support to the 2017 Asian Games. In particular, two rounds of the sports media forum had been conducted for foreign and Turkmen journalists in Ashgabat under the contract with Jon Tibbs Associates (JTA) (UK). As for the Asian Games in Ashgabat, the company had launched active cooperation with the international organisations and experts, including the International Sports Press Association. The website of the international media forum tismf.com was created.
The publications about the activities conducted in Turkmenistan to promote the sport and Olympic movement in Turkmenistan and prepare for the 2017 Asian Games, which were placed in many foreign media, allowed raising worldwide the awareness of the upcoming multi-sport event in Ashgabat.
One of the main aspects of the ongoing multifaceted activities is the enhancement of cooperation with the Olympic Council of Asia and other international sports organisations as well as with the companies that have extensive experience in organizing and conducting major sporting events on global and continental scale.
The International Sports Exhibition “Ashgabat is the Capital of the 2017 Asian Games” was held in the Turkmen capital in April. The training seminar “Cuisine of the 2017 Asian Games” was held in the Avaza national tourism zone last month. Ashgabat hosted the 54th International Conference of the Sports Commission of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union in May.
It was reported that the contests among university lecturers and students had been conducted and 800 volunteers with the good knowledge of foreign languages had been selected to serve sports delegations and guests of the V Asian Games. They attend the training courses at the language centres that are opened at the institutions of higher education in the country. With the view to study international volunteer management practices the Turkmen delegation of young volunteers participated in the 10th International Volunteer Movement Rally, which took place in the framework of the Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi on March 7-15. It was proposed to send a group of Turkmen volunteers to the II Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, People’s Republic of China and the XVII Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
The reports focused on the preparation of special phrasebooks, sports dictionaries and glossaries in different languages for publication and the development of the route of the V Asian Games Torch Relay through the territory of all the regions of Turkmenistan towards the capital.
The measures are taken to prepare Turkmen athletes for the V Asian Games and conduct training sessions in Avaza, Koitendag and Geokdere. Turkmen referees attend seminars and conferences abroad to improve their skills and earn international categories. Professional training of sports journalists and TV and radio sports presenters is conducted jointly with the State Committee on Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography of Turkmenistan.
The Vice Premier reported to the Turkmen leader that the State Committee for Sports of Turkmenistan carried out the preparations for the World Belt Wrestling and Goresh Championships. It is planned to hold these competitions at sports facilities in the Olympic Village in Ashgabat on November 19-24. The Olympic Village in Ashgabat will host the World Judo and Kurash Championships in 2015.
The V Asian Games master plan is currently under development. In this context, the proposals of a number of foreign companies were considered. The offer of the British company CSM Strategies was found the most suitable.
It was reported that the presentations of the samples of medals, symbol and design of the 2017 Asian Games Torch were held at the National Institute of Sports and Tourism on March 9 and April 18. A number of proposals were considered, and some samples were selected. It was reported that the necessary measures to create the official website of the V Asian Games were taken. The offers of a number of well-known foreign companies were currently considered.

The President signed the Resolution on the Approval of the Membership of the Organizing Committee of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
