President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who was on a working visit to Balkan Velayat, considered the progress of modernization of the International sea port and projects of new facilities of the transport infrastructure to be built on the Caspian coast in compliance with the General Plan of Development of the Turkmenbashi International sea port and Turkmen Mercantile Marine till 2020.
Before the presentation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of Çalyk Holding Ahmet Çalyk, who informed the Turkmen leader on the projects on construction of a new International sea port in Turkmenbashi drafted in accordance with the Turkmen President’s comments and instructions.
The Turkmen leader also received representatives of the Inros Lackner AG Company (Federative Republic of Germany), which won an international tender for monitoring the conceptual design and complex construction of the Turkmenbashi International sea port.
During the meeting Head of Inros Lackner AG for Equipment Tobias Günzl and Consultant Aleksey Alekseev informed the President of Turkmenistan on various aspects of the practical implementation of the project, organizational and technological measures, functional characteristics of the port systems and management.
The President of Turkmenistan considered the project on modernization of the specialized terminal for storing and shipping polypropylene built at the International sea port earlier as well as the project on modernization of a terminal serving ferry vessels.
Commenting on the projects, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov provided a number of comments and specific instructions.
The President also instructed Vice Premiers and heads of ministries and departments in charge to study thoroughly and use the best world experience of organization of marine cargo and passenger transportation, work of sea ports, state control over construction of all sea facilities. The Turkmen leader also underlined the significance of ensuring the ecological wellbeing of the Avaza National tourism zone located in the unique picturesque corner of the Turkmen land.
The samples of ground from various depths of coastal waters, where the new sea port will be built, were presented to the Turkmen leader. It was reported that the results of researches had proved the ecological cleanness of coastal waters.
Then President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov headed to the State Service of Marine and River Transport. Addressing those present, including cabinet ministers, foreign businessmen, heads of ministries and core departments, the President once again underlined the significance of the International port as a key part of a modern transport and communication infrastructure established in Turkmenistan with the aim to ensure the further progress of the country, its successful social and economic development and integration into the system of international logistics.
Under the storm of applause President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution authorizing the State Service of Marine and River Transport of Turkmenistan to sign a contract with Gap Inşaat Yatirim ve Diş Ticaret A.Ş. Turkish Company for design and construction of the Turkmenbashi International Sea port with improvement of the adjacent territory, construction of external engineering systems of communications, electricity, gas, water and water disposal as well as roads and railways connected to the municipal system.
Upon completion of the ceremony, the Turkmen leader wished those present every success in their work and headed to the Turkmenbashi airport.
