The meeting between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev took place at the Hilton Bodrum Türkbükü Resort & Spa Hotel in Bodrum. The leaders of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan arrived in Bodrum to participate in the IV Summit of the Heads of states of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States which is held in Bodrum on June 5.
During the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev discussed the important aspects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan emphasizing the huge potential and wide opportunities for enhancing fruitful cooperation in various spheres, in particular in trade and economy, energy, transport and communication, etc.
It was noted that the geographic location of the two neighbouring states creates all favourable conditions for implementation of projects on creation of transcontinental transit and transport corridors providing beneficial ground and sea routes for cargo transportation and their integration into the international transport infrastructure. In its turn, this will contribute to enhancing the mutually beneficial economic relations in Eurasia that is an important factor of sustainable development in the regional and global scale.
Specifying humanitarian sphere as an important part of the relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Ilham Aliyev underlined the significance of further intensification of mutually beneficial partnership in the sphere of education, science, and culture, encouraging creative relations that will make the peoples of the two countries, who have common spiritual and cultural traditions, closer to each other.
The leaders of the states expressed satisfaction with the work on preservation the Caspian Sea environment and increasing the biological diversity of this unique water reservoir conducted by the relevant departments of the Caspian states. It was noted that the Caspian Sea had always been the sea of friendship and consent of the fraternal peoples.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged their views on a number of important issues of the regional and international level. In this regard, particular attention was paid to the IV Summit of the Heads of states of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States, which will focus on the priority aspects of the intergovernmental partnership. The Presidents of the two states reaffirmed the adherence of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan for the traditional dialogue in the framework of authoritative international organizations and structures as well as the readiness of the two states to support the positive, creative processes in the region and the whole world as well.
