President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov participated in the IV Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States as a Guest of Honour. The agenda of the summit focused on the priority aspects of the trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian integration as well as cooperation in the sphere of tourism.
The Turkmen leader’s participation if the forum has once again testified to that the diverse foreign policy of neutral Turkmenistan prioritizes cooperation with regional associations, including the CIS, OSCE, SCO, OECD, etc.
Speaking during the forum, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev, and President of the Republic of Turkey Abdullah Gul underlined the role of Turkmenistan in enhancing the multi-aspect cooperation of Turkic speaking states. Not been a member of the Council, our country has a positive influence on many processes, which make peoples closer to each other and unite the economic, humanitarian, cultural, and spiritual potential of Turkic speaking states.
Highly appreciating the work done by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) with the aim to develop cultural relations between the fraternal states and peoples, study their historical heritage, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined that Turkmenistan paid significant attention to regular top level meetings within the framework of this International organization.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan considered development of the Avaza National Tourism zone on the Caspian coast as a very important project and noted that foreign parters, including companies and businessmen from Turkey took an active part in implementation of the project. The Turkmen leader invited the people of Turkic speaking states to visit Avaza.
Taking an opportunity, the President of Turkmenistan also invited representatives of fraternal Turkic speaking states to take part in the Week of Culture to be held in Dashoguz Velayat.
Speaking about the favourable geographic location of our states as an important factor for establishment and development of fruitful relations and mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between the regions, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined that Turkmenistan supported the idea on laying international transport and communication corridors through the Central Asia, Caspian Sea and Middle East to Europe and other continents.
One of the key aspects of the international policy of Turkmenistan is energy safety and development of a strategy on long-term cooperation in this sphere. In this regard, our country calls for intensification of the energy dialogue, its transformation from the consulting and recommendation character to practical steps, and clear definition of its legal mechanisms.
Emphasizing the significance of the intergovernmental cooperation in the sphere of science and education, the President of Turkmenistan underlined the importance of enhancing relations in these spheres, exchanging innovative technologies and jointly developing scientific and technological innovations as well as using the most advanced technologies into productions and establishing direct relations between leading scientific and research centres and institutions of higher education of Turkic speaking states.
The initiatives put forward by the President of Turkmenistan during the summit were supported by all participants of the forum. In particular, the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States supported the idea of the President of Turkmenistan that the city of Mary could pretend for a status of a cultural capital of the Turkic speaking world.
The President of Turkmenistan had a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan as well as held a trilateral meeting with the President of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey.
Upon completion of the forum, President of the Republic of Turkey gave an official dinner in honour of the heads of states of Turkic speaking countries.
After the reception, the President of Turkmenistan bade farewell to his foreign colleagues and left Bodrum for Ashgabat.
