President of Turkmenistan conducts a videoconference meeting

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a videoconference meeting with the Vice Premiers, the khyakims of the regions and Ashgabat and the heads of the ministries and departments. The meeting agenda focused on the measures taken to improve social and living conditions of citizens, implement the national social and economic development programmes and the industry development plans and conduct seasonal agricultural activities.

The reports on the measures taken to modernize the national health system, improve the quality of health services rendered to citizens, further develop the medical industry and promote healthy lifestyle habits and physical and sports activities among Turkmen citizens were presented.

The issues related to the optimization of activities of transport and communications enterprises and the implementation of the large-scale urban development programme in Ashgabat were considered. The information on the preparations for the Science Day celebrations to be held in Ashgabat and the measures taken to accelerate the construction work was presented.

The reports on the current situation in the regions and the work being done in framework of the ongoing large-scale development programmes, the progress of the harvest campaign and the measures taken to take care of cotton fields and supply water to agricultural areas were presented.

The reports focused on the preparations for the celebrations in honour of remarkable dates and the progress of construction of social, cultural and industrial facilities were presented. The information on the preparations for the Week of Culture, which will be held in Dashoguz Velayat, and the Science Day activities organized by the Agricultural Institute in Dashoguz was presented.

Commenting on the reports, the President gave instructions to the Vice Premier and the Minister of Health and Medical Industry to further promote the pharmaceutical industry. In this context, the Turkmen leader dwelt upon the manufacture of medications from such a valuable raw material as liquorice. Noting that a sector manufacturing medicaments from liquorice could be created though conducting task-oriented activities in compliance with modern requirements, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave the high-ranking officials the instructions to study in detail and discuss with Japanese companies, which show keen interest in this field, the measures to be taken to create such a sector.

In particular, the President instructed to analyse in detail the possibilities to develop a project of an enterprise specializing in the manufacturing of medicaments from liquorice, receive a loan for the construction of the enterprise and provide it with raw materials.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the work of the Chairman of Turkmenawtoyollary State Concern, the Turkmen leader demanded that immediate measures should be taken to eliminate the existing shortcomings and optimize the activities of the State Concern.

Dwelling upon the need to hold and complete the harvest campaign in a proper and timely manner, the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave specific instructions to ensure that the harvest would be reaped without loss. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the activities of the institutions engaged in the harvest campaign should be monitored on a regular basis and a variety of cultural events and leisure activities should be organized for grain growers.

Touching upon the current situation on the construction sites, the Turkmen leader instructed to ensure that construction work would meet the quality requirements and new facilities would be put into operation in a proper and timely manner.

The President gave the instructions to properly organize and hold the Science Day celebrations and the Week of Culture, which will take place in Dashoguz Velayat.

Noting that students of the Agricultural Institute in Dashoguz should apply their theoretical knowledge in practice and improve their practical skills, the Turkmen leader emphasized that future agricultural specialists should enhance their skills in operating agricultural machinery in soil and climatic conditions of the region.

The Turkmen leader also emphasized that favourable conditions for research activities of lecturers and students of S. Seidi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute should be created.

The President said that students of the State Institute of Energy should study scientific advances in their field of study as well as the best national practices at the modern power plants under construction in our country, including Mary State Power Plant, and learn to apply high technologies in the industry.

In conclusion, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave the meeting participants specific instructions to improve the efficiency of work to promote the ongoing large-scale development programmes.
