President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, during which the development of the national economy in the five months of the current year and key issues of the state policy and draft documents were discussed.
The Vice Premiers presented the reports. It was noted that the main economic development indicators showed the stable growth rate of GDP. It is estimated at 110.3 per cent. The share of the industry in GDP is 50 per cent.
Nearly all the sectors of the economy achieved high performance results in January-May. In the five months of the current year, the production growth rate made 113.7 per cent as compared with the same period in 2013.
In January-May, retail trade increased by 18.3 per cent as compared with the same period in 2013. In the five months, the growth rate of foreign trade turnover made 107.7 per cent as compared to the same period in 2013.
The reporting period was also characterized by the successful implementation of the State budget, the budget revenues rose to 114.9 per cent and the budget expenditures to 96.9 per cent. In January-May, the growth rate of average salary made 111.8 per cent as compared with the same period in 2013. Prices for consumer goods and services rendered to citizens were maintained within limits.

In January-May, the volume of investment from all the sources of financing used by the Ashgabat Khyakimlik rose to 178.3 per cent as compared with the same period in 2013. During the reporting period, the volume of investment from the centralized budget made 238.9 per cent as compared with the same period in 2013.
The detailed report on the progress of seasonal agricultural activities, including on the progress of the harvest campaign being held in Ahal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary Velayat, was presented. Agricultural workers were currently engaged in taking care of cotton fields, applying mineral fertilizer and supplying water to crops. In January-May, the growth rate of oil and gas condensate production made 100.3 per cent as compared with the same period in 2013, natural and associated gas - 110.3 per cent. 'Blue fuel' exports rose by 11.5 per cent.
The report on the preparations for the Week of Culture, which will be held in Dashoguz Velayat on June 23-29, was presented.
During the reporting period, 15 kindergartens were put into operation. 142 textbooks and teaching aids, of which 67 had been published, were prepared for publication. In January-May, Turkmen schoolchildren won 113 medals at international school subject Olympiads, including 21 gold, 29 silver and 63 bronze medals.
Turkmen university students won several medals at the international intellectual competitions.
In January-May, the growth rate of output and delivery of works and services at the enterprises of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture amounted to 123.7 per cent.
In January-May, the growth rate of production and delivery of works and services at the enterprises of the Ministry of Energy made 109.6 per cent, the growth rate of electricity production made 113.3 per cent.
In January-May, the growth rate of production and delivery of works and services at the enterprises of Turkmenawtoyollary State Concern amounted to 147.7 per cent, and this indicator at the enterprises of the Ministry of Public Utilities amounted to 117.5 per cent.
During the reporting period, the growth rate of foreign trade at the enterprises of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations increased by 107.1 per cent as compared with the same period in 2013. The volume of investment rose to 53.7 per cent.
83 auctions were held and the transactions, including international trade and construction contracts totalling 28,424.2 million manats, were concluded at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange during the reporting period.
In January-May, the Chamber of Commerce held 8 exhibitions and 6 conferences. The growth rate of service delivery made 111 per cent.
In January-May, industrial output at the enterprises of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs rose by 34 per cent as compared with the same period in 2013. Agricultural output at these enterprises increased by 63 per cent. The volume of construction and assembly work rose 2.4 times. Trade turnover rose 2.5 times, the growth rate of services rendered to the population made 231 per cent.
Summing up the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the President noted that GDP had significantly increased during the reporting period, its growth rate made 10.3 per cent. Noting that the ambitious national and international projects were being implemented in the country, the Turkmen leader said that the cost of facilities currently under construction totalled about US$ 42 billion.
Other issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
