President of the Republic of Korea, Ms. Park Geun-hye arrived in Turkmenistan for a state visit.
This visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan is to become an effective step to build up Turkmen-Korean cooperation. Enhancing constructive relations with the countries of Asia, including the Asia-Pacific region, that has the tremendous potential for fruitful cooperation is a main vector of the foreign policy of our country. Turkmenistan sees the Republic of Korea that rightfully ranks among the developed countries of the region as an important and dependable partner. In the afternoon, the Turkmen-Korean top-level talks were held. In a businesslike and constructive atmosphere, the two leaders discussed a wide range of aspects of Turkmen-Korean cooperation and specified its priorities given the modern realities and long-term prospects. Confirming the intention of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea to promote full partnership, the sides identified the trade, economic, transport, energy, high technology and other sectors as the major areas for cooperation. Also, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Park Geun-hye focused on the importance of traditional humanitarian contacts, focusing on further enhancement of fruitful cooperation in education, science, culture and sports.
The sides exchanged views on a number of topical issues of regional and international politics of mutual interest.
The package of bilateral documents were signed during the talks between the government delegations of the two countries.
The Memorandum of Understanding between Turkmengaz State Concern, LG International Corp. and Hyundai Engineering Co. Ltd. regarding the construction of the plant producing liquid fuel (GTL) from natural gas in Turkmenistan, the Memorandum of Understanding between Turkmengaz State Concern, LG International Corp. and Hyundai Engineering Co. Ltd. regarding the construction of the chemical complex in Turkmenistan; the sulphur sales contract between Turkmengaz State Concern and LG International Corp., the Memorandum of Understanding between Turkmengaz State Concern and LG International Corp. regarding of the purchase of polyethylene and polypropylene produced by the gas chemical complex in Kiyanly, the Agreement on Trade Cooperation between the Ministry of Motor Transport of Turkmenistan and Hyundai Corporation of the Republic of Korea, the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Standardization, Metrology and Certification between Turkmenstandartlary Main State Service and the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards, the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Agriculture between the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of the Republic of Korea; the Minutes of the fourth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Korea Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation, the Programme of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea for 2014-2015 were signed in the presence of the leaders of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea.
