President of Turkmenistan considers the development programmes in Avaza

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to Balkan Velayat, visited the Avaza national tourism zone to see the progress in implementing the construction projects. The Turkmen leader went for a cycle ride on the seashore. The Chairperson of Mejlis and the Vice Premiers accompanied the President of Turkmenistan.

The President of Turkmenistan boarded the yacht Galkynysh, from which he could see the progress in implementing the construction projects in the Avaza national tourism zone.

Looking out over the panorama of large-scale construction work launched on the seashore, the Turkmen leader focused on the key aspects of the development programme, including the development of social and living infrastructure in the seaside resort, noting that it was important to ensure that buildings and facilities in Avaza would blend well with the surrounding natural landscape and promote tree planting activities in the region.

In this context the Vice Premiers and the Chairperson of Mejlis, who were accompanying the Turkmen leader, reported to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the measures taken to fulfil the tasks set by the Turkmen leader to develop the Avaza national tourism zone.

The draft designs and layouts of buildings and facilities being built and to be built in the seaside resort were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration. The Vice Premiers informed the Turkmen leader of the construction of the five-star hotel at the request of the ministries and departments of the economic bloc, the development of the project of Tolkun cottage complex, the high class hotel at the request of the Ashgabat Khyakimlik, the development of the project of a 13-storey hotel at the request of the transport and communication ministries, the construction of a shopping centre, the development of the project of a multifunctional sports complex at the request of the industrial ministries and departments and the project of a multi-lane flyover to be built at the entrance to Turkmenbashi, among others.

After considering the projects, the Turkmen leader made some adjustments and gave specific recommendations on the projects. Noting that all the construction projects must meet the main requirements, such as high quality of construction work and adherence to construction schedule, the Turkmen leader dwelt upon on the environmental, aesthetic and functional aspects of every project.

The Turkmen leader focused on the need to facilitate the enhancement and development of the sports aspect of the seaside resort project. The international windsurfing competitions taking place for the first time in Avaza these days will certainly give an unprecedented impetus to build the national school of sailing in Turkmenistan.

The President of Turkmenistan focused on the need to actively promote such a segment in the Avaza national tourism zone as ‘economy class’ – a range of hospitality services at low prices, which would result in a significant influx of tourists and allow making greater use of the opportunities offered by Turkmenistan’s tourism industry.

The President dwelt upon the construction of five-star hotels at the request of ministries and departments, amusement parks with slides and swings and aqua parks, shopping centres and engineering facilities and gave specific instructions to the high-ranking officials in this context.

Focusing on the need to build the urbanized framework in the seaside resort, the concept of which is based on the idea of using the advanced urban planning technology – the city garden, the Turkmen leader focused on the importance of efficient and effective use of natural resources, protection of the environment and maintenance of favourable ecological conditions in the region. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Avaza was oriented towards health improvement thanks to the unique climatic conditions of the maritime region and healing hydromineral resources. A number of recreation centres and world class luxury hotels will spring up on the ecologically clean coast of the Caspian Sea in the foreseeable future. It is planned to modernize the seaport and develop entertainment infrastructure in the region, including cinemas, water parks, yacht clubs and sports clubs.

After coming ashore, the President summed up the discussions. The Turkmen leader noted that the successful implementation of the large-scale development programmes launched in the Avaza national tourism zone would make it possible to bring tourism resources of the Turkmen seaside resort to an international level. In conclusion, the President wished every success in fulfilling the tasks to those present and left the meeting venue.
