President of Turkmenistan attends the opening ceremonies of health facilities

The opening ceremonies of the important health facilities and the ceremonies of laying the foundation stone of specialized medical institutions took place in Ashgabat on the day when Turkmenistan was solemnly and widely celebrating the Day of Health Care and Medical Industry Workers and the 19th anniversary of the Saglyk State Programme. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the ceremonies.

The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the production experimental and food centre of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service – the innovative enterprise that will focus on scientific research and technological developments in the field of food science and technology and nutrition promotion.

The President of Turkmenistan addressed the ceremony participants with a welcoming speech, specifying the objectives to be achieved by the new health facilities in their sphere of activity.

The guest of honour to our country, Rector at Hirosaki University, National University Corporation, Mr. Kei Sato congratulated those present on the Day of Health Care and Medical Industry Workers celebrated widely in Turkmenistan and presented a special certificate to the leader of Turkmenistan in recognition of the profound contribution of the collected works Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan consisting of five books to popularizing the use of medicinal plants to prevent and treat various diseases, on behalf of Hirosaki University teaching staff and students and to the applause of the ceremony participants.

The opening ceremony of the hospital with the Cardiology Clinical Research Centre took place in the Turkmen capital on that day. Its white-marble high-rise building sprang up at the intersection of Gerogly Street and A. Niyazov Avenue.

The hospital has the necessary facilities and equipment to provide quality medical care to patients, diagnose the latent forms of diseases at an early stage, conduct cardiovascular research and treat vascular malformations. Its departments and laboratories are supplied with state-of-the-art equipment, including simulators, phantoms, computers, equipment and other necessary devices and training aids. Many specialists of the hospital have received training at major clinics in Germany, Austria and other countries.

The continuation of long-standing fruitful Turkmen-German cooperation in the health sector is the invitation of a renowned Professor of Cardiac Surgery Dr. Calin Vicol from Munich to work at the hospital of the Cardiology Clinical Research Centre. The German specialist visited Turkmenistan and the construction site of the hospital and provided assistance and recommendations for equipment and devices for the hospital. He German expert will be working in our country for one year, performing surgeries and delivering lectures.

The Emergency Care Centre designed for 200 patients that occupies the new 10-storey building on Gerogly Street in the city centre is supplied with state-of-the-art medical equipment meeting international standards. It also houses the ambulance station. The Centre will aim its activities at rendering round-the-clock first aid and emergency care to accident victims on the road, at home and in stationary conditions.

The Emergency Care Centre in Ashgabat houses the admission unit, diagnostic unit, burn unit for 25 patients, endoscopy unit for 25 patients, neurotrauma unit 50 patients, thoraco-abdominal surgery unit for 50 patients, general surgery unit for 50 patients, intensive care unit for 18 patients, surgery unit with 4 operating theatres, laboratories, physiotherapy unit and other units.

The fleet of the Emergency Care Centre consists of 230 ambulances. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov donated 50 Mercedes-Benz ambulances of different types to the Centre. Five of them are the resuscitation ambulances that will be used for the first time in Turkmenistan.

There is a helipad in the adjacent territory of the Emergency Care Centre. A helicopter SuperPuma AS 332 L2 is another gift of the Turkmen leader to the Emergency Care Centre.

The building complex covers a total area of over 53,200 square metres. It includes the maintenance departments for vehicles and ambulances, including the repair shop, car wash and fuelling station.

As was reported, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov issued the Resolution on the establishment as a legal entity of the Emergency Care Centre of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat. The Emergency Care Centre is financed from the budget and renders paid services. The similar centres were built and put into operation in Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary Velayat on that day.

The ceremonies of laying the foundation stone of the Morphology Centre, the Neurology Centre for 120 patients and the Centre for the Prevention of Most

Dangerous Diseases took place on that day. These health facilities are to be put into operation in July 2016.
