President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Mr. Christian Friis Bach, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital to take part in the High-level International Conference on the Role of Transport and Transit Corridors in Ensuring International Cooperation, Stability and Sustainable Development.
During the meeting held in a friendly atmosphere, the Turkmen leader and his guest exchanged their views on the status and prospects of long-term cooperation, which efficiency was proved by a number of important joint projects successfully implemented in various spheres.
The President noted that Turkmenistan occupying a favourable geographic position at the junction of important transport routes was aimed at establishing closer cooperation with the UN specialized agencies, including the UN Economic Commission for Europe to implement the initiative on creation of a Model Highway for Central Asia.
