President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated participants in the School Culture and Sports Festival of the Commonwealth of Independent States that will take place in the Avaza national tourism zone.
In his congratulatory address the President expresses hope that proclaiming friendship, the ideas of humanism and peace, this Festival will leave the pleasant emotions and wonderful memories in the heart of each participant.
The President notes that the fact that the School Culture and Sports Festival of CIS Member States is taking place in one of the picturesque regions of Turkmenistan - in the Avaza national tourism zone on the shore of the Caspian Sea - testifies to our continued commitment to strengthening friendly and peaceful relations. We create every opportunity to ensure that children, who are arriving in the Turkmen land, will recreate well at modern recreational centres, make new friends and spend time with pleasure and benefit.
The President says that sport plays a crucial role in the physical and spiritual development of an individual, a healthy society. In the present epoch we maintain the national traditions of bringing up physically strong and spiritually healthy generations which are fostered by our people for thousands of years.
"We pay special attention to the promotion of the mass sports and physical activity movement in our country as one of the key priorities of the state policy. Today, sports facilities, stadiums, equestrian sport centres, sports schools and sanatoria are built and put into operation in our cities and villages.
The implementation of one of the ambitious projects in the 21st century - the Olympic Village in our white-marble capital Ashgabat, which has no analogues in Central Asia, is underway. International hockey and football tournaments, national competitions in various sports, mass sporting events and health improvement, cultural and social activities to mark World Health Day - all this contributes to enhancing the prestige of Turkmenistan in the sports world.
Turkmenistan is becoming the venue for major sporting events and festivals at the international level. Now, our country is accumulating new experience in organizing and holding the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts, which Ashgabat will be hosting in 2017.
The fact that the School Culture and Sports Festival represented by the teams of CIS Member States in such sports as football, beach volleyball, table tennis, basketball and chess in the Avaza national tourism zone vividly illustrates Turkmenistan's readiness for closer and well-coordinate cooperation with the international community in this field."
