Ashgabat hosted the second Viennese Ball. The President of Turkmenistan attended the cultural event as a Guest of Honour.
Turkmenistan celebrated the Ball on the square of the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan that is surrounded by three remarkable centres of culture - the National Library, the Main National Museum, and the Palace of Mukams.
The guests at the event included members of the Government, heads of the Mejlis, heads of the diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited in Turkmenistan, representatives of ministries and departments, public organisations, as well as workers of culture and art. The delegation of the Republic of Austria, including Member of the Council of the Vienna city and region, Chairman of the City Ernst Woller, President of the Austrian-Turkmen Society Neda Berger, media representative of the city of Vienna, a group of famous Austrian musicians, conductor Wolfgang Harrer, singers and dancers arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the Viennese Ball. The delegation also included Austrian businessmen - heads of leading companies, members of the Austrian-Turkmen Society.
The cultural event is held on the initiative and under the patronage of the President of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen leader cordially greeted ceremony participants and took a place in the Presidential lounge.
Then the floor was given to President of the Austrian-Turkmen Society Neda Berger, who congratulated all those present on this remarkable event and expressed deep gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the support provided in organzation of the second Viennese Ball in Turkmenistan.
Dancing pairs presented a virtuoso performance to Frederic Chopin’s “Polonaise”. Dancers of the “Ruhubelent Chagalar” artistic group performed to the tune of “The Waltz of Flowers” by Johann Strauss, who is known as ’The Waltz King’.
Austrian conductor Wolfgang Harrer waved a baton, and enchanting music by Edvard Grieg sounded on the square. One of the most famous works by the composer - “Concerto for Piano and Orchestra” was performed by a Turkmen musician and the Turkmen-Austrian symphony orchestra “Galkynysh”.
The concert programme included popular classical works.
A fashion show presented by the Ashgabat Fashion House adorned the Viennese Ball with their beautiful ballroom and modern dresses, as well as stylized national costumes.
An integral part of all Viennese Balls - gala-dinner was presented by the national cuisines of Austria and Turkmenistan.
By tradition, the Viennese Ball closed with “The Radetzky March”, one of the most famous works composed by Johann Strauss Sr., which was performed by the Turkmen-Austrian symphony orchestra “Galkynysh”.
The final chord of the wonderful Turkmen-Austrian cultural festival was the song “Berkararlyk Aydymy” performed by the Turkmen-Austrian symphony orchestra “Galkynysh”, the State Chorus of Turkmenistan, and singers.
Addressing participants and guests to the joint creative event, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined its significance in brining the cultural relations established between neutral Turkmenistan and the Austrian Republic up to a new, higher level of their development.
Expressing gratitude to organizers and participants of the festival for holding it at the high level, the Turkmen leader bade farewell to those present wishing them health and further creative achievements and left the venue.
