President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in the framework of the IV Caspian Summit in Astrakhan.
Thanking the Turkmen leader for the participation in the Summit, the President of the Russian Federation emphasized the profound contribution of our country to addressing the Caspian Sea related problems.
Emphasizing a fruitful exchange of views at the high-level five-party meeting that was preceded by the preliminary work of many years on the preparation of important documents, including the agreement on the conservation and sustainable management of marine biological resources of the Caspian Sea, on cooperation in the prevention and liquidation of emergency situations in the Caspian Sea and on cooperation on hydrometeorology of the Caspian Sea developed at the initiative of the Turkmen side, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Vladimir Putin focused on the need to continue the negotiations on a range of issues related to the conservation and sustainable use of the rich potential of the Caspian Sea in the interests of all the coastal states.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Vladimir Putin highly evaluated the dynamic development and the level of an interstate dialogue, focusing on the strong intention and mutual willingness to strengthen and steadily build up fruitful cooperation in all key areas.
The leaders of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation exchanged views on issues of regional and international politics of mutual interest. Emphasizing the similarity or coincidence of views of the two countries on urgent problems and challenges of the modern world, the sides reaffirmed the commitment of the neighbouring countries to establishing and enhancing close partnership to ensure global peace, security and sustainable development.
In this regard, President Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of the international initiatives put forward by independent neutral Turkmenistan from the rostrum of high-level global forums and aimed particularly at forming new global security architecture to make the zone of peace and stability of Central Asia and the Caspian Sea region.
