Contest “Turkmen national dishes” devoted to the International Women’s Day – the 8th of March took place in Dashoguz. The representatives of Cultural centers of cities and etraps of the northern region of the country became the participants of the contest.
Contestants told about traditional and modern cooking methods of delicate Turkmen dishes: dograma – fatty broth with small pieces of Turkmen bread, meat and onion, a porridge from white durra, bean soup, as well as various dishes from minced meat. They demonstrated their knowledge of old recipe of making the delicacies – dried melon, watermelon and grape treacle, semeni (from sprouts of wheat), talhana (from fried wheat flour, dry melon seeds, sugar and syrup).
In the contest, the participants showed the excitement, knack and sharpness in rolling the dough and cutting of noodles, preparation of fresh salads from vegetables, festive table appointments. Winners and prizewinners received valuable gifts in the atmosphere of particular solemnity.
