President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, during which the current objectives of the economic sectors, the measures for the progressive development of the national economy and the important issues of the domestic and foreign policies were discussed.

The reports on the programme of the celebrations in honour of the National Spring Holiday – International Day of Nowruz and the preparations for the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Armenia, which will be held on March 25-29, were presented.
The report on the preparations for the International Floriculture and Horticulture Exhibition, which will take place at the Exhibition Centre Sergi Kosgi in Ashgabat on March 25-27, was presented.
The report on the works done in the framework of the plans for modernisation and reconstruction of social and housing infrastructure, transport networks and pipelines, power supply and communications systems and community facilities in the etraps of Ashgabat was presented. To date, 358 out of 2,269 houses have been reconstructed. The Ashgabat Hyakimlik announced the tender for the construction of 29 multi-level garages and outdoor car parks. The interagency group conducts cost analysis of the projects proposed.
The report on the measures taken by the Ministry of Communications to lay the fibre-optic line Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan)-Baku (Azerbaijan) on the bottom of the Caspian Sea was presented. The relevant agreements were reached at the second meeting of Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan Commission for economic cooperation, which took place in Baku in November 2010.
It was reported that the fibre-optic communication systems were linked up in the direction toward Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Afghanistan. The new line will make it possible to increase Internet speed and modernize the fibre backbone lines, including with European and Asian countries.
The report on the outcomes of the first meeting of Turkmenistan-Kyrgyzstan Commission for trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation, which had taken place in Ashgabat and brought together heads and specialists of government agencies and business circles of the two countries, was presented.
The information on ongoing reconstruction of streets and roads in Ashgabat was presented. It is planned to reconstruct 59.17 kilometres of roads in accordance with the Ashgabat Development Concept for 2015-2016.
The President signed the Decree on the conferring of the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to M. Mashalov and the appointment of him Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution of the sugar beet production in Turkmenistan for 2015.
The President gave his blessing to start sowing cotton in Ahal, Lebap and Mary Velayat on March 27 and in Dashoguz Velayat on April 3.
The President signed the Resolution approving the State Youth Policy Programme of Turkmenistan for 2015-2020.
The Turkmen leader congratulated those present and citizens of Turkmenistan on the National Spring Holiday and wished them good health, happy and prosperous life.
