The national planting campaign started in Turkmenistan with participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Within the framework of the season, hundreds of thousands of coniferous, deciduous, fruit, and other trees were planted in the country this day. It is planned to plant three million young trees on the territory of the Turkmen capital, its suburbs and regions this year.
Early in the morning, the numerous participants of the planting campaign gathered together in the southwest of the Turkmen capital near the monumental building Bagt Koshgi.
The Turkmen leader’s cortege arrived to the venue. The heads of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, cabinet ministers, heads of military and law-enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, deputies of the National Parliament, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Turkmenistan, public organisations, higher educational institutions, and mass media greeted the President of Turkmenistan. By tradition, the start of the campaign was blessed by the elders.
The Turkmen leader planted a tree starting the national planting campaign. All those present followed the Turkmen leader’s example.
Over 281,000 citizens of our country participated in the planting campaign and planted more than 265,000 trees. Among them – over 34,000 participants planted more than 93,000 trees in the Turkmen capital, 247,500 participants planted over 172,000 trees in the regions.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov initiated “the green development strategy” as a mechanism to ensure the sustainable economic and social progress of the country based on the most advanced experience, innovative technologies and centuries-old national traditions. The ecologically ‘green’ concept of growth is aimed at improving the quality of people’s life in harmony with picturesque Turkmen nature, environment and prosperity of the country.
Particular attention during the campaign was also paid to treating over 1.134 million young trees planted earlier.
Expressing satisfaction with the scale of works carried out in the framework of this season’s planting campaign, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave a number of instructions on improvement of the city and its regions to Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Sh. Durdylyyev and Ashgabat Khyakim R. Nurmammedov. The Turkmen leader instructed the relevant officials to analyze the issues on introduction of the most advanced technologies in ‘green’ construction, creation of recreation areas using the latest developments in the sphere of landscape architecture.
The Turkmen leader also spoke with the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in our country. The President thanked foreign diplomats for their active participation in all important events taken place in our country and significant contribution to development of international relations of Turkmenistan and implementation of ambitious projects in the region. The President noted that their participation in implementation of the national greenery programme symbolized the further trustworthy interstate relations.
