President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich, who arrived in Turkmenistan leading the high-level delegation of his country.
The Turkmen leader and his guest exchanged views on the prospects of Turkmen-Belarusian cooperation in the context of the implementation of the top-level agreements and the plans for the future. In this regard, emphasis was placed on existing ample opportunities to diversify fruitful contacts in a wide range of areas, including the trade and economic sector, transport and agriculture, the processing, textile, chemical and pharmaceutical industries and delivery of modern machinery and equipment for agriculture and other economic sectors. Given the social and economic development priorities of the two countries promising prospects for cooperation in the field of science and technology were opened up.
During the meeting particular attention was paid to the implementation of the important joint project – the construction of the Garlyk ore-dressing and processing enterprise producing potash fertilizer in Koitendag Etrap in Lebap Velayat, where rich potash deposits are located. The Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus said that he had visited the construction site of the industrial giant in the framework of his visit to Turkmenistan to see the on-going construction work. Confirming that Belarusian partners were committed to performing their contractual obligations, the guest emphasized that every effort would be made to ensure that all works would meet the standards of quality.
Touching upon the aspects of interstate relations, the Turkmen leader and his guest emphasized the positive role of regular mutual visits and exchange of delegations at various levels in strengthening bilateral partnership. In this context, the President of Turkmenistan and the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus called for further promotion of inter-parliamentary relations as an integral component of the Turkmen-Belarusian dialogue.
Emphasis was also placed on fruitful humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, including in the fields of education and science, training of highly qualified specialists, culture and arts.
Expressing gratitude to the Republic of Belarus for its continued support for the international initiatives of our country, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Belarusian partners to participate in the celebrations in honour of the 20th anniversary of neutrality of Turkmenistan.
