President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, during which the major objectives of national economic development, key issues of the domestic policy and draft documents were discussed.
The Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers presented the reports on the current situation in the sectors under their supervision.
The report on the launch of the cotton planting campaign in Ahal, Lebap and Mary Velayat and the fruit and vegetable planting campaign in Balkan region on March 27 with the participation of the elders, experienced farmers, scientists, mechanics and other specialists was presented.
The report on the preparations for the upcoming holiday “A Drop of Water – A Grain of Gold” was presented. The programme of the celebrations, which will take place on April 2-5, includes the international conference on the Important Aspects of Efficient and Effective Water Resources Management and Environmental Preservation. Participants in the conference will visit the Turkmen Lake Altyn Asyr. The capital of Turkmenistan will host a regular meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (ICWC), which will bring together heads and specialists of the water departments from Central Asian countries.
The report on the regular meeting of the TAPI Steering Committee, which took place in the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, was presented. Meeting participants identified the priorities for the implementation of this ambitious project.
The information on the preparations for the fifth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Korea Commission for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, which will take place in the capital the Republic of Korea, Seoul on April 10, was presented.
The information on the preparations for the international conference on the 2017 Asian Games and the role of Turkmenistan in promoting sports for peace and wellbeing, which will take in Ashgabat on April 2-4, and the Youth Conference of Turkmenistan, which will be held on March 28, was presented.
The report on the results of the tender for the 15th construction stage projects held by the ministries and departments was presented. A number of companies that had presented their proposals for the construction of apartment houses, kindergartens and schools, shopping centres, the reconstruction of roads and the improvement of territories adjacent to social and cultural facilities were selected.
The information on the progress in implementing the 2015 work plan in the etraps of the capital city was presented. City highways are currently under reconstruction. Consistent measures are being taken to modernise various infrastructure facilities, power supply and communications networks, etc.
The information on the preparation of the uniform state register of roads and the road numbering rules was presented.
The President issued the Resolution on the Issues of the Unified Electronic Library System to be created at central libraries affiliated with the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan. The company Nokat kompyuter was selected as the contractor for the installation of necessary equipment, software and high-speed communication systems at central libraries.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the need to take the most responsible approach to optimizing the activities of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange in order to meet modern requirements, stimulating entrepreneurs and increasing their contribution to manufacturing resources of the country.
Noting that the control of the situation in the industry had been weakened, the President severely reprimanded Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers P. Taganov for the unsatisfactory performance of his duties and the shortcomings in his work and signed the relevant document.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov issued the Resolution on the establishment of Merchant Marine Close Corporation.
Summing up the meeting, the President noted that the enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which will be held on April 3, would focus on the country’s social and economic development in the first three months of the current year and be attended by heads of ministries and departments, hyakims of velayats, towns and etraps, rectors of higher educational institutions, editors-in-chief of newspapers and magazines and directors of television and radio channels.
Other issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
