President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Ahalteke Horse Breeding Complex, where together with his grandson the Turkmen leader rode horses and worked on a new book.

As is known, the Turkmen leader always devotes few leisure hours to various sports or writing and research work. Horse riding is one of the favourite hobbies of the President of Turkmenistan. The Turkmen leader’s love for Ahalteke horses offered a powerful incentive to write a book about them. The book that was translated into many languages gained popularity all around the world. On that day, the President of Turkmenistan continued the work on the book about the ‘heavenly horses’. The President used various materials on the achievements of Turkmen horse breeders and trainers and the features of the Ahalteke breed.

Then, together with his grandson, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov rode horses on the racecourse at the Ahalteke Horse Breeding Complex.

Our national traditions are based on the continuity of generations – from old to young. Spiritual values, including reverence and boundless love for our national pride – ‘heavenly’ horses’ are passed over from generation to generation. This love is in Turkmen people’s blood, in their genes. As one of the important lessons of life for youth, it is passed over from older to younger generations over many centuries.

Currently, the country is preparing for the Turkmen Horse Day. By tradition, honorary guests from many countries of the world and delegations of foreign states will be invited to attend the celebrations. They will have an opportunity to see with their own eyes the work being done in Turkmenistan with the aim to revive and promote the art of horse breeding that originated thousands of years ago in Turkmen land oases.
