President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated citizens of Turkmenistan on the World Health Day. In his congratulatory address to the Turkmen people, the President expressed belief that the celebrations held in our country to mark the international holiday that symbolizes the festivity of peace, humanity and creative inspiration would become unforgettable events for our people.
“Numerous events are held in Turkmenistan, which has occupied stronger positions in the world as a powerful and welfare state, in honour of this holiday that was incorporated into the national calendar of remarkable dates. Mass health promotion and sporting events, international competitions and national tournaments in various sports, musical and signing performances and opening ceremonies of social facilities are currently taking place throughout the country under the motto “Health and Happiness”.
In our state, which is recognized in the world community as a country of health and high spirit, much attention is paid to development of physical culture and sports, to guaranteeing a flourishing, prosperous and happy life of our people and physically and spiritually healthy development of the nation. We successfully implement all our ambitious reforms to achieve these goals.
The Olympic Water Sports Complex, National Olympic Sports Palace, Winter Sports Complex, Ashgabat multifunctional stadium built in the Turkmen capital as well as numerous modern sports complexes put into operation in the regions of the country contribute to bringing up a physically strong, spiritually mature generation of well-educated and erudite young people and promote the healthy lifestyle.
Sports serve as the basis of friendship and wide international cooperation. Therefore, we support the noble goals and principles of the Olympic movement. Turkmenistan attaches great importance to enhancing partnership in various levels and in particular with the Olympic Council of Asia. This cooperation contributes to strengthening peace and humanity. The decision of the Olympic Council of Asia to host the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat in 2017 was another evidence of the international recognition of our initiatives aimed at guaranteeing peace and progress, friendship and unity, creativity and humanity that satisfy the regulations and principles of the Olympic movement”.
