President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with the reigning monarch of the Principality of Monaco Prince Albert II. The meeting took place in Daegu, the Republic of Korea, where the World Water Forum was taking place.
The two leaders paid particular attention to the establishment of bilateral political and diplomatic relations and the opening of diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan and Monaco in Monte Carlo and Ashgabat and gave specific instructions to the foreign ministries of their states.
The State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports that particular emphasis was placed on cooperation between Turkmenistan and Monaco in the space industry. The first satellite of Turkmenistan that Monaco has offered an orbital position for will be launched into outer space in the near future.
The sides also discussed the ways to deepen humanitarian contacts and promote the dialogue particularly in culture, sports and tourism and circus arts. In this regard, the successful performance of the equestrian sport group Galkynysh at the International Monte-Carlo Circus Festival last year was mentioned.
Noting that affection of the royal family of Monaco to the equestrian sport was well known, the Turkmen leader invited Albert II to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time to see on-going work on preservation of the renowned Ahalteke breed in our country. The invitation was accepted with gratitude.
