President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has a meeting with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in Daegu.

The two leaders exchanged views on a wide range of aspects of Turkmen-Tajik cooperation and discussed the progress in implementing a number of international economic projects. The State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports that the sides confirmed their willingness to intensify contacts in the transport sector, which will receive a powerful impetus to develop through the implementation of the ambitious project of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway, as well as in the power, trade, oil and gas and agricultural sectors.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Emomali Rahmon underlined the importance of deepening cooperation in ensuring global energy security and addressing pressing environmental issues, including water management. The leader of Tajikistan highly evaluated the international initiatives put forward by the Turkmen leader to tackle water management issues.

The Turkmen leader invited his Tajik counterpart to take part in the celebrations in honour of the 20th anniversary of neutrality of Turkmenistan.
