Turkmenistan – OSCE: priority of democracy and human rights

Delegation at the head of Special representative of Parliamentary Assembly of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe for the Central Asia Mr. Thierry Mariani was received at the Parliament of Turkmenistan.

The subject of interested view exchange became the prospective trends of bilateral cooperation in the context of drastic socio-economic reforms expanded in the country, including in the sphere of national legislation. As it was underlined, one of the priority orientations of the state policy of Turkmenistan at the modern stage is the realization of democratic reformations aimed at protection of interests of the residents of Turkmenistan, securing their rights and civil freedoms. In this connection, particular significance is attached to the study of the best world experience.

Members of delegation of authoritative international organization have familiarized with major aspects of legal reform, where special place is attached to the implementation into national legislation of generally accepted norms of international law. Emphasizing that Turkmenistan and OSCE attach great significance to further development of fruitful partnership, the meeting participants declared for strengthening of efficient interaction, including in the field of development of parliamentary institutions.

Program of stay of delegation in Turkmenistan envisages the participation in the seminar to the topic “Parliamentary Assembly of OSCE: mandate, principles of work and vital issues”, as well as meeting in the National Red Crescent Society in Turkmenistan.
