President of Turkmenistan visits construction sites in Ashgabat

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Motorsport Centre and the construction sites in Ashgabat.

The State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports that in the morning the Turkmen leader arrived by helicopter at the Motorsport Centre, located in the north of Ashgabat. The heads of the military and law enforcement agencies greeted the Turkmen leader on the venue.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov rode a bicycle on the tracks of the Motorsport Centre, demonstrating the excellent physical condition. The high-ranking officials joined the Turkmen leader.

The President focused on the need to popularize sports among military servants and hold regular sports competitions involving military units. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction that a number of young people practicing cycling had grown in recent years.

The President visited the garage of the Motorsport Centre where he could see sports cars and learn about their characteristics. The garage also houses sports cars delivered recently to the Motorsport Centre, hybrid electric vehicles that use solar energy and fuel and solar-powered electric cars.

The high-ranking military and law enforcement officials participated in the training racing with sports cars.

The Turkmen leader drove a solar-powered electric car on the tracks of the Motorsport Centre. The President instructed Minister of Internal Affairs I. Mulikov to explore the possibility of buying and using widely this type of environmentally friendly vehicles in our country.

Before leaving the venue, the President wished all those present every success in their work.

The helicopter brought the Turkmen leader to the northern part of Ashgabat, where a number of construction sites are located. These include the new international airport. It will be capable of serving 1,600 passengers per hour and receiving aircrafts of different types and carrying capacity. The new international airport will have three passenger terminals and the new runway with the length of 3,800 metres.

On board the helicopter the Turkmen leader could see the streets and intersections with multiple levels under construction in Ashgabat and inspect the progress in implementing the 13th stage construction projects.

The helicopter brought the Turkmen leader to the southern part of the city with a number of facilities under construction. The President moved to the construction site of the Congress Centre.

When visiting the construction site, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov could see the progress of construction work. Dwelling on the interior design of the building, the Turkmen leader emphasized the importance of landscaping adjacent territories and arranging green spaces. The President expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of this work in the etraps of the capital and demanded that the Ashgabat Hyakimlik should take the necessary measures to increase the effectiveness of activities.

The President visited the construction site of the Abadancylyk Monument. The height of the monument built in honour of the 20th anniversary of neutrality of Turkmenistan is 47 metres; it is crowned with the globe and doves, symbolizing Turkmenistan’s commitment to the principles of peacefulness. The President suggested holding the opening ceremony of the Abadancylyk Monument together with other newly built facilities on May 25 when Turkmenistan would be celebrating Ashgabat Day.

Before leaving the venue, the President focused on the need to use the most responsible approach to address urban development issues and wished those present every success in their work.
