President of Turkmenistan receives Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Japan in Turkmenistan

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Japan in Turkmenistan Mr. Hideomi Nakajima.

The diplomat conveyed the greetings of Emperor Akihito and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who had expressed keen interest in promoting cooperation for the benefit of the two countries and peoples to the leader of the Turkmen state.

The Turkmen leader expressed his best wishes to the imperial family, Government and people of Japan, confirming that our country stood ready to continue to move forward on the path of strategic partnership for mutual benefit. Noting that he had cordial recollections of his meetings with Emperor Akihito, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that it was mutual respect and sincerity of these meetings that contributed largely to fruitful relations between Turkmenistan and Japan in all key areas.

An exchange of views on the prospects for partnership took place during the meeting. An increase in trade relations and intensification of direct contacts between public and private institutions of the two countries were mentioned as priority objectives. The State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports that emphasis was also placed on cooperation between the two countries in the humanitarian sphere, including in education, science and culture.
