On the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Chairperson of Mejlis A. Nurberdyeva received the letters of credence from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam in Turkmenistan Mr. Haji Mahadi bin Haji Maidin.
On behalf of the leader of the Turkmen state the head of the national Parliament congratulated the guest on the appointment to the high diplomatic post and wished him every success in strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Nation of Brunei.
Expressing gratitude for the good wishes, Mr. Haji Mahadi bin Haji Maidin expressed belief that his appointment as the first Ambassador of the Nation of Brunei in Turkmenistan would build up cooperation between the two countries.
The diplomat was briefed on the main aspects of the policy of the Turkmen state, including the promotion of fruitful relations with all countries of the world and major international organisations as a key priority. Particular emphasis was placed on the implementation of large-scale social and economic reforms initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The diplomat was also briefed on the structure and activity of Turkmen Parliament.
Noting that Turkmenistan was playing a significant role in international politics, the plenipotentiary representative of Brunei underlined the willingness of his country to foster a full-scale dialogue. Emphasis was placed on the need to intensify interstate relations particularly in education and culture which contributed to friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples.
