President of Turkmenistan addresses participants of the meeting of the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Association

Opening the V meeting of the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Association, the President of Turkmenistan cordially congratulated the forum participants and guests on the fifth anniversary of the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Association and wished them every success in their efforts to promote horse industry and popularize renowned Ahalteke horses worldwide.

The Turkmen leader noted that the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Association currently united 132 members from 29 countries and the number of its members was increasing year by year.

The Turkmen leader noted that the important issues of horse breeding development, including equestrian sports should be considered, the ceremony of awarding active members of the Association should be held and the date, venue for the next – VI meeting of the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Association and the tasks to be discussed during the VI meeting should be determined within the framework of the V meeting.

The President of Turkmenistan emphasized that more than 500 representatives from different countries in the world took part in this year’s festive events on occasion of the Turkmen Horse Day.

“Having established the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Association, we create a reliable basis for preserving the pedigree breeding, increasing the livestock population and popularizing our renowned horses all around the world”, said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

“Turkmenistan carries out systematic and focused work on development of the horse breeding industry. That is vividly proved by the construction of a modern horse breeding complex designed for breeding 600 heads of pedigree Ahalteke horses in Geokdere settlement in Geokdepe Etrap in Ahal Velayat. The territory of the complex hosts apartment houses and other social facilities with all necessary conditions created for horse breeders”, said the President.

“Moreover, race-courses at the International and Ashgabat Equestrian Sport Complexes were covered with polytrack and a training centre and riding hall were built on the territory of the Ashgabat Equestrian Sport Complex”, the Turkmen leader said.

The Galkynysh group of national equestrian games significantly contributes to promoting the world glory and prestige of Ahalteke horses that is our national glory and developing the art of horse breeding. The group successfully performed at prestigious international festivals of circus arts held in dozens of countries in the world demonstrating unique talents of our beautiful ‘heavenly’ horses. In this regard, the Turkmen leader noted that the Galkynysh group of national equestrian games had achieved success at the XVI International Circus Festival, which was held in Italy. The Gold Cup Latina 2014 and the prizes of the festivals Di Albacete, Consegna del Premio, Comune Di Latina and a diploma of the Ahalteke Association of Italy were awarded to the Galkynysh group.

The President also mentioned the meeting of the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Association in the People’s Republic of China in 2014 as another significant event. The foundation of the Ahalteke horse industry Park was laid in Beijing within the framework of the meeting. Increasing the level of competence of Turkmen specialists through exchange of experience vividly testifies to the work done to develop the horse breeding industry. A group of Turkmen jockeys and horse breeders visited the UK and the Kingdom of Bahrain to study, exchange experience and increase qualification.

Addressing the members of the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Association, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the historical signing ceremony of Memorandum between Organizing Committee of the V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts, Olympic Council of Asia and National Olympic Committees of Oceania. Within the framework of the ceremony show jumping was included into the list of 19 kinds of sports of Asian Games in Ashgabat.

The Honorary Titles of Turkmenistan “Türkmenistanyň ussat halypa çapyksuwary” (Master Jockey-Trainer of Turkmenistan) and “Türkmenistanyň halk atşynasy” (National Horse Breeder of Turkmenistan) were established with the aim to appreciate the hard work of horse breeders in Turkmenistan.

“Behişdi ahalteke atlary” (Heavenly Ahalteke horses) journal issued by the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Association is published by the Turkmen, Russian and English languages.

The International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Association created a web-site that provides comprehensive and reliable information about Ahalteke horses bred in different countries in the world. The President of Turkmenistan expressed belief in that the meeting would contribute to the further growth of the glory of Ahalteke horses and mutually useful exchange of experience between horse breeders in different countries of the world.
