President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Ashgabat equestrian sports complex, where the competitions of young jockeys took place on the eve of the national holiday – Turkmen Horse Day. The event was organized by Turkmen Atlary State Association, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and Magtymguly Youth Organisation.
The Vice Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of Mejlis, military and law enforcement agencies, diplomatic missions accredited in our country, hyakimliks of the regions and Ashgabat and the media, foreign businessmen, the elders and numerous citizens and guests of our capital, including participants in the large-scale international forums dedicated to incomparable Ahalteke horses gathered together at Ashgabat equestrian sports complex. Representatives of ministries and departments, public organisations and horse industry, the elders and Turkmen and foreign journalists attended the festivities.
Seven three-year-old horses participated in the first round of the 1200m race. Young jockeys represented the Ahalteke horse breeding complex, the national equestrian sports school, the horse farms of the oil and gas industry departments and private horse farms.
The winner in the first round of the 1200m race os Kerimguly Berdimuhamedov riding dark dun stallion Dovamat (Ahalteke horse breeding complex under the President of Turkmenistan). His result is 1 minute 18.4 seconds. Dovamat broke away from the main group about 200 metres before the finish. His attempt overtook rivals. The winner crossed the finish line first under a standing ovation and cheers from the spectators. P. Abdyev riding Garagum ranked second with the result of 1 minute 19.1 seconds and E. Ashyrov riding Merkezi ranked third with the result of 1 minute 22.3 seconds.
The first race as well as the following competitions vividly demonstrated the successful development of millennia-old traditions of horse breeding in the new historical epoch. There were no outsiders in the groups of young riders participating in the competitions. The fact that in most rounds a winner was determined only on the finish line reflected intense competition among young riders. An exception was the first round of the 1200m race in which the young rider reached a high speed from the starting line and maintained it till the end of the competitions under the thunderous applause of his peers.

Sh. Byashimov riding Sogap took the second place with the result of 1 minute 20.3 seconds and G. Garaev riding Dorgush took the third place with the result of 1 minute 20.8 seconds.
Seven three-year-old horses participated in the third round of the 1200m race. The competition was intense. G. Gelenov riding Algush ranked first with the result of 1 minute 19.9 seconds, G. Garaev riding Almagoz ranked second with the result of 1 minute 20.2 seconds and Sh. Geldimyradov riding Yedigen ranked third with the result of 1 minute 21.1 seconds.
B. Baygeldiev riding Gudrat elebrated victory in the fourth round of the competitions. His result was 1 minute 18.8 seconds. G. Garaev riding Dostluk ranked second with the result of 1 minute 20.9 seconds and R. Abdyev riding Geokyayla ranked third with the result of 1 minute 28.0 seconds.
The breath-taking competition in the fifth round of the 1200m race left nobody indifferent. Seven three-year-old horses competed for the prizes. I. Durdyev riding Algush ranked first with the result of 1 minute 20.8 seconds, B. Byashimov riding Kesgire ranked second with the result of 1 minute 22.3 seconds and B. Babaev riding Ayyaly ranked third with the result of 1 minute 22.5 seconds.
G. Nogaev riding Galkan took the first place with the result of 1 minute 20.1 seconds, Sh. Geldimyradov riding Tyazezaman took the second place with the result of 1 minute 21.9 seconds and A. Muhammedov riding Daraklyk took the third place with the result of 1 minute 23.3 seconds in the sixth round of the 1200m race.
I. Durdyev riding Galkan took the first place with the result of 1 minute 20.8 seconds, A. Orazlyev riding Selbinyyaz took the second place with the result of 1 minute 21.2 seconds and Sh. Saryev riding Parasat took the third place with the result of 1 minute 22, 2 seconds in the final round of the 1200m race.
After the competitions had concluded, the aircrafts appeared in the sky, riveting the attention of all those present: Turkmen pilots demonstrated their outstanding aerobatic skills. The audience took it as an expressive symbol of the indomitable speed and high flight of Ahalteke horses known all over the world as the ‘heavenly’ horses.
