Social and economic development of the country in the first four months of 2015 was reviewed at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
The State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports that speaking at the government meeting President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the national economy had showed good growth in the reporting period. GDP rate rose by 10 per cent as compared with the same period in 2014. The investment volume in various sectors was increased by 7.1 per cent. Flow of funds to the State budget held steady; the wage rate rose by 9.5 per cent. Steady growth of the economic indicators is evident despite the negative developments in the global economy and a complicated external environment.
The Turkmen leader noted that the construction projects totally worth US$ 50 billion were being implemented throughout the country; over 50 facilities had been built and put into operation since the beginning of the year. The Turkmen leader focused on the development of the national school of architecture on a competitive basis and the establishment of integrated construction companies which will effectively operate outside the country as the important tasks to be fulfilled.
The President noted that the non-state sector of the national economy had showed 18.6 per cent growth, agriculture - 14.4 per cent growth, the construction sector - 18.6 per cent growth in the reporting period. Good results were achieved in the transport and communications, trade and services sectors. This became possible through the balanced economic policy, economic diversification and stimulation of the non-primary sectors.
The Turkmen leader noted that all these allowed ensuring sustainable growth of the national economy irrespectively of the performance indicators in the oil and gas industry as well as effectively implementing social programmes and obligations and promoting large-scale infrastructure projects.
The reports on the work done in other sectors in the first four months of 2015 were presented by the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers. In particular, the growth rate of oil and gas condensate production made 108.2 per cent. The oil processing plan was implemented by 101.5 per cent. The production volume of petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel fuel, polypropylene, lubricants, liquefied gas, was increased as compared with the same period in 2014. The volume of drilling operations rose by 1.6 times.
The total growth rate of products, works and services at the enterprises of Turkmenhimiya State Concern rose by 2.1 times. Turkmenhimiya State Concern achieved the target figure of 117.3 per cent in the reporting period. The total volume of works performed and products manufactured by the enterprises of the Ministry of Industry made 122.5 per cent as compared with the target figure; the growth rate made 115.1 per cent.
It was reported that the first communications satellite of Turkmenistan TürkmenÄlem 52°E would be raised to the geostationary orbit and placed on its orbital position at a longitude of 52 degrees east within the next few days.
The Turkmen leader signed the Resolution on the approval of the Programme for 2015-2020 for the improvement of employment assistance and creation of new jobs. With the view to improve land reclamation activities the Turkmen leader signed the Resolution on the purchase of water lifts and necessary equipment.
Commenting on the reports, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave specific instructions to the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers. In particular, the President instructed to take effective measures to establish joint ventures and create new jobs. The Turkmen leader instructed the high-ranking officials to draft the proposals for further modernization of the agro-industrial sector to be discussed at the Elders’ meeting and identify the most effective forms of management.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed dissatisfaction with the activities of the State Committee for Sports and the slow pace of work being done to ensure that the activities of financial and economic departments would meet modern requirements. The President reprimanded Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Ereshov for the unsatisfactory performance of his duties and the shortcomings in his work.
Other issues were discussed and the decisions were adopted during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
