President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of the Italian Republic Matteo Renzi held talks in the capital of Italy.
The sides discussed a wide range of aspects of Turkmen-Italian cooperation and identified its key priorities during the meeting which took place at the Palazzo Chigi. The promising areas for cooperation included the trade and economic, fuel and energy, industrial, transport and communications, agricultural and tourism sectors. Emphasizing the importance of promoting humanitarian cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi called for the intensification and enhancement of contacts between Turkmenistan and Italy in the spheres of culture, science and education.
The sides exchanged views on a number of topical issues of regional and international politics of mutual interest.
The ceremony of signing bilateral documents took place after the talks had concluded.
The Memorandum on Economic Cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and Development of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Italian Republic, the Programme for Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic for 2015-2016, the Memorandum of Cooperation in Science between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Italian Republic and the Tax Information Exchange Agreements between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Italian Republic were signed.
