President of Turkmenistan receives American businessmen

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Executive Director of Turkmenistan-US Business Council Eric Stewart and CEO of Nicklaus Design Jack Nicklaus.

Discussing the progress in implementing the agreements, the President and his guests expressed belief that the positive experience of joint work would contribute to the implementation of new projects, including in a sport related field. It was noted that consistent measures were taken in the framework of the National Programme to Support Physical Culture and Sports in Turkmenistan for 2011-2020 to train sportsmen and build sports and health improvement facilities.

Expressing the readiness of his company to provide full support to the development of such a world’s most popular sport as golf in Turkmenistan, the CEO of the leading golf course design firm reported on the work carried out in compliance with the Turkmen leader’s recommendations and suggestions. Jack Nicklaus said that his firm would use its profound experience in this field to build the best golf course in Ashgabat and assured that the construction work would be completed before the 2017 Asian Games.

Expressing enthusiasm about the achievements of Turkmen athletes, who make progress in the world arena, Jack Nicklaus said that vivid evidence for the growing international prestige of our country was the decision of the Olympic Council of Asia to hold the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Turkmenistan – the first Central Asian state to host such a major multi-sport event.

The sides exchanged views, focusing on the fruitful activities of Turkmenistan-US Business Council that provides assistance in organizing business meetings, forums, commodities exhibitions of well-known American companies and other activities which allow identifying the most promising areas of partnership. A growing number of new members of the Business Council vividly illustrate the willingness of the American side to establish constructive cooperation.
