The President of Turkmenistan chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. The Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers presented the reports on the current situation in the sectors under their supervision.

Heartily congratulating the members of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Turkmen people on the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory in the war 1941-1945 widely celebrated in our country, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished them good health, peace and happy life.

The State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports that the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers reported on the measures taken to study the circulation of domestic commodities and prepare the programmes for the production of import-substituting products and expansion of the volume and range of exports. The programmes provide the list of the proposed projects, the volume of anticipated revenues and the economic justification for the establishment of new facilities in mechanical engineering, chemical, textile, food and pharmaceutical industries, agriculture and industry.

Approving the projects in whole, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave specific instructions on their implementation. The Turkmen leader approved the proposal for the publication of the specialized catalogue of domestic export goods, which will provide the information on the range, quality and technical characteristics of the goods.

The report on the preparations for the official visits of the government delegation led by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Austria and Slovenia scheduled for May 11-14 was presented. Top-level talks are expected to focus on priority aspects of partnership and result in signing a number of documents.

The information on on-going agricultural activities, the completion of the cotton planting campaign and the preparations for the harvest campaign was presented. A total of 1,700 combine harvesters will be engaged in the harvest campaign. 6,800 trucks will deliver grain to procurement stations and grain elevators. 350 mobile mechanized brigades were formed to ensure timely and proper maintenance and repair of agricultural equipment and machines and deliver fuels and lubricants.

The report on the preparations for the pilgrimage of cultural and art workers, scientists, educational professionals and honorary elders to the tombs of the prominent Turkmen literary men – Magtymguly Fraghi and his father Dovletmammed Azadi, located on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was presented. The delegation consisting of 70 members, including representatives of the media, public organisations, cultural workers, scientists, educational professionals and honorary elders is going to make a pilgrimage to the friendly country this year. Upon returning home, the delegation will take part in the celebrations in honour of the great Turkmen classical poet, which will be held in Gerkez village in Magtymguly Etrap, Balkan Velayat on May 18.

The information on the on-going work related to the launch of the first communications satellite of Turkmenistan TürkmenÄlem 52°E into outer space was presented. Specialists continue testing the satellite systems; the data and parameters are transmitted from the satellite to the Satellite Surveillance Centre. Trained technical staff and operators track the movement of the satellite and its systems around the clock. The report on the measures taken by the Ministry of Communications to expand access to high speed Internet was presented.

The meeting participants reported on the accelerated construction of large-scale facilities in Lebap Velayat with the view to develop the domestic chemical industry. The information on drilling and chilling operations carried out by the Turkmen and Belarusian construction enterprises in shafts and on surface facilities at the ore-dressing and processing enterprise producing potash fertilizers under construction on the Garlyk field in Koitendag Etrap was presented.

Effective measures were taken to accelerate construction and installation work on the sulphuric acid production plant at Turkmenabat chemical plant.

The report on the measures taken to beautify the Turkmen capital and modernize transport and communications and engineering networks and social facilities in Ashgabat was presented.

The President issued the Resolution on the purchase of computers for first formers, who will be admitted to secondary schools throughout the country in the 2014-2015 academic year. In accordance with the Resolution, Lenovo S20-30 computers will be purchased. In recent years, it has become a tradition in Turkmenistan to present personal computers to first formers.

The President issued the Resolution on the regulations on the use of motor roads, traffic lane markings and edge lanes and temporary traffic restriction or traffic congestion.

Other issues were discussed and the decisions were adopted during the government meeting.
