President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with war veterans and war widows. The meeting took place in the Maslahat Köşgi Conference Palace. The festive event held on occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War brought together the Chairperson of the Mejlis and heads of military and law-enforcement agencies of the country.
The meeting was held in an informal format, in sincere, warm and at the same time exciting and pleasant atmosphere.
The meeting participants got through the ways of the war full of hardships defending the Fatherland. The President of Turkmenistan expressed deep gratitude to war veterans for their heroism and merits in the name of the happy life of present generations.
Our compatriots showed the unprecedented example of fortitude, honour and patriotism in those fiery years not only at the battle line but in the home front as well. Women, elders and children tirelessly worked, forged the Victory on the home front during those harsh years of war.
On behalf of war veterans, Shihi Dovletov from Serahs Etrap in Ahal Velayat and Fedor Pavlov from Ashgabat thanked President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the government support, all necessary conditions created for them and concern provided to war veterans in the Turkmen society. The veterans wished the Turkmen leader every success in his versatile activity in the name of prosperity of the country and happy life of the people.
The Turkmen leader emphasized that following the instructions of wise elders and asking for their advice was one of the best traditions of our ancestors. The President noted that the elders’ advices were very valuable to the present generation and therefore our country annually held the Elders’ Council.
The President of Turkmenistan invited war veterans to take part in a regular meeting of the Elders’ Council of Turkmenistan that will be held in the Avaza National tourist zone this year.
Then on behalf of Presient Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, monetary awards and valuable presents were awarded to war veterans and widows on occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory.
