The title of Honorary Professor of the International University of Humanities and Development awarded to Secretary-General of the United Nations

The ceremony of awarding the title of Honorary Professor of the International University of Humanities and Development to Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon took place at this educational institution.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rector of the International University of Humanities and Development E. Aidogdyev emphasized that this day would go down in history of the International University as a significant event.

In his turn, Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon congratulated those present on the accession of the International University of Humanities and Development to the global initiative of the United Nations “Interaction with Academia” and presented the relevant certificate to the Rector of the International University.

The official launch of the programme implemented by the Department of Public Information took place at the UN Headquarters in New York in November 2010. The idea of the global initiative belongs to Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon. Its purpose is to support the principles and initiatives of the United Nations with a focus on human rights, sustainable development, peace and conflict resolution as well as the promotion of education, cultural dialogue and other aspects of international relations by the academic community, represented by universities of various profiles.

The decision the Supreme Attestation Committee of Turkmenistan to award the title of Honorary Professor of the International University of Humanities and Development to Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon for his tremendous contribution to the expansion of multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations was announced.

The Rector of the International University put a national Turkmen robe don and a white hat telpek on the Secretary-General of the United Nations and presented him the diploma.

The International University of Humanities and Development was founded in 2014. It trains specialists in 14 fields of science: philosophy, sociology, international public law, international private law, international relations and world politics, journalism, international economics, international commerce, international finance, insurance, international management, computer technology, software and information and communication technologies.

It is the first institutions of higher education with the two-tier education system - bachelor and master degrees in Turkmenistan. Classes and lecturers at the International University are delivered in the English language for a fee.
