Presidents of Turkmenistan and Georgia visited the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Tbilisi, where the Turkmen leader was briefed on the history of the Cathedral.
During the tour of the Cathedral, the leaders of the two states discussed the prospects for promoting effective bilateral cooperation in cultural and humanitarian spheres. Turkmenistan has conducted large-scale work in this area, including ambitious humanitarian projects. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that currently, the most favourable conditions had been created in the country to promote cultural relations with different world countries, including Georgia and emphasized that tolerance and respect for the representatives of other confessions was one of the main features of the national character.
The principles of kindness, humanity and love for mankind are the foundation of the major world religions, including Islam and Christianity. The Turkmen people highly appreciate the universal virtues and postulates and value the international and interreligious harmony reigning in the country as a key condition for maintaining peace and stability as well as further enhancing mutual understanding between peoples.
Speaking about importance of further development of traditional cultural and humanitarian relations, enhancement of fruitful dialogue on studying and popularizing rich historical and cultural heritage of the two friendly states, the President of Turkmenistan and Georgia were unanimous in that these relations are significantly aimed at strengthening the interstate relations.
At the Tbilisi International Airport, the leaders of Turkmenistan and Georgia held talks. Highly evaluating the results of the bilateral talks, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov bade farewell President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili. The President of Georgia thanked the Turkmen leader for the visit that laid the solid foundation for further fruitful cooperation.
